Fall Family Fun at Leaping Deer Adventure Farm & Market

Fall is in full swing now, and it's a wonderful time of year to get out and discover family fun right in our own backyards.   This past weekend, our family enjoyed a fabulous afternoon at Leaping Deer Adventure Farm  in Oxford Country.  Leaping Deer Farm is located conveniently, right off the 401 near Ingersoll, Ontario.
It was our first visit, but certainly won't be our last visit to Leaping Deer Adventure Farm.  The property is sprawling and welcoming for children and adults of all ages.  Our visit offered an afternoon of running, exploring and a sprinkling of learning, tossed in as well.  Leaping Deer is a working farm, and the kids loved seeing the combine come in the drive to refuel, as well as learning about lamas and feeding small animals in the Animal Shed.

A highlight of Leaping Deer is the amazing corn maze.   Leaping Deer Adventure Farm has constructed a detailed corn maze that takes about an hour to complete.  Winding your way through a corn maze is a must-do family event during the Fall.  Leaping Deer Adventure Farm requires that people sign in before entering and out upon exiting the corn maze as a measure to keep everyone safe and accounted for.  A corn maze is a lot of fun, but you quickly loose your bearings once inside.   This is the largest corn maze in Oxford County.

An Abundance of Family Fun

While the corn maze is a definite highlight at Leaping Deer Farm, there is so much more to see and do and an afternoon will fly by.  My children loved the pedal cars and returned several times to race the cars around the contained track.  The pig race and trips around the farm on the Corn Cob Express and Wagon Rides, also topped their list of favourite activities.

Other activities that our family enjoyed at Leaping Deer Adventure Farm:
  • Mini putt
  • Rubber ducky races
  • Chicken chuckin
  • Giant digger sand box
  • Straw slide splash

Country Store, Restaurant & Bakery

To round out our visit we took some time out to enjoy the store and restaurant.  The store has lovely (seasonal) decor items, stuffies and a fantastic John Deere corner.  If you are a collector of John Deere, this corner is a must-see.   We ordered and devoured a delicious lunch, made to order using fresh, local ingredients.  (The onion rings were amazing!)

Right now, in store you can pick up in-season produce, including squash, and a wide assortment of pumpkins.   My children each picked out a pumpkin and we also brought home a couple of bundles of cornstalks for decorating the front step.    Not to be forgotten, there is a great selection of baking to pick up and take home (we brought home a delicious raspberry pie).

Our visit to Leaping Deer Adventure Farm and Market was a wonderful way to reconnect as a family.   There is no shortage of activities to keep the whole family entertained.  The property is well maintained and expansive.  The staff is very friendly and welcoming and always visible.   Admission is $11.99 per person/children under the age of two are no charge.  There is also the option of purchasing a season pass.
