Making the Season Merry and Bright, Naturally #ONatural

The holidays can be a very stressful time for a lot of people.  It is financially draining, and it can be a very lonely time of year.  I often think that people have lost the reason for the season.  Let's bring back the holidays - together!

My Tips for Making the Season Merry & Bright

Shop Online
Most everything you could ever want is now available for purchase online.  Beat the crowds, line ups and save yourself some frustration by shopping for some of your holiday gifts right from the comfort of your living room couch or kitchen table.  Watch for free shipping to sweeten the deal.  Just remember to give yourself enough time in order for the item to arrive at your doorstep in time for gift-giving.

Shop & Eat Local
Nothing beats hometown service with a smile.  Supporting the local business-people in my small town is a win/win for everyone.  Walking into a store where they recognize you and greet you with a smile is worth it's weight in gold.  Many local shop keepers are more than happy to help you back to your vehicle with your purchases, too!

Don't forget that local farm markets still have great products even now in the off-season.  At our farm market shop we found a nice array of homemade jams and local maple syrup - perfect for Christmas brunch.

Share with Others
We have always made it a point to share with others in our community, even when we hardly had the means to.  I always knew that we had more than others might have.  It is very important to me that my children learn the importance of sharing with others so that they may go on and do so as the next generation.  This Christmas I worked closely with our local Salvation Army to help them fill in the gaps.  I called a couple of times to ask them what they were in need of and picked it up for them.  One time it was canned peas, another time they said small action figures.  It's easy to help others and it feels good to give back.

Smile
Don't forget the true meaning of Christmas.  Take the time to wish your neighbour a Merry Christmas, or hold the door open at the post office.  Smile and make eye contact with someone today, I can guarantee it will make their (and your) day memorable.
