It's what's for dinner tonight: Ham Taco Wraps #dinnerin15

Hot on the heels of my Ham Dinner Muffins, I am once again putting together a quick dinner that can be from the stove to table in 15 minutes.  As we are now into those dog days of summer, I think we all want to get the most out of these last few weeks before school starts again.  In fact, later this week I am planning a beach day with my neighbour and dear friend  We've tried to take one day out of every summer to go lakeside and just enjoy some time catching up and watching the kids play in the waves and sand.  On that kind of day, I know that I'll be out of the house right up until dinner.  Recipes like those found at Appehtite are perfect for getting a meal ready for the family when everyone is starving and time is of the essence.

This time I am making and sharing Ham Taco Wraps.

My family loves anything which is inside a tortilla wrap, so I knew that ham taco wraps would be a home run.  Plus, it meets (easily) the 15 minute criteria.

Ingredients for Ham Taco Wraps:

  • 2 cups of chopped Schneiders cooked ham steak
  • 1 cup of sliced mushrooms
  • 1 cup of  quick-cook rice
  • 1 cup of salsa
  • Shredded cheese & sour cream as desired
  • Your choice of tortilla wraps ( I decided on Dempster's Original and Garden Vegetable)

Method:
  • Melt desired amount of butter in a frying pan
  • Boil water to make rice
  • Chop Schneiders Ham Steak into small cubes
  • Fry mushrooms, and cook your rice at the same time
  • Add the chopped ham steak to salsa in a bowl, and mix
  • Add the salsa mixture and cooked rice to the frying pan with the mushrooms and simmer for about 7 minutes, until the mixture is bubbly and hot- stirring occasionally
  • Prepare your wraps with sour cream and shredded cheese as desired and fill with your ham mixture
  • Wrap up the tortilla and enjoy!
These are tummy- filling wraps with warm chunks of ham, mushrooms and rice, with great flavour from the salsa.   My  Schneiders Ham Taco Wraps  are a great quick dinner which are sure to please!  Try them today.

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 7 minutes

Oooh, those look really good! We've had wraps like that a few times at cafe's and my girls like them, but I've never tried making them at home. This is a great idea - thanks for sharing!
