Fun Times Were Had at Day out with Thomas: The Thrill of the Ride Tour 2014

Once again, Day out with Thomas rolled into St. Thomas, Ontario for two action-packed weekends in July.  Day out with Thomas is one of those must-do events in the community.  St. Thomas Ontario is rich with rail history and provides the perfect locale for young train enthusiasts.

If you are a Thomas the Tank fan or even a fan of trains this is the event for you and your family.  My kids are getting a little bit older now, and we've attended the event several times over the years, that this time around we thought we would introduce another family (my sister and her family) to the excitement of Day Out with Thomas: The Thrill of the Ride Tour 2014.

The St. Thomas - Elgin Memorial Center hosts the event annually and they do a great job.  The grounds and area are spacious, with lots of room for kids young and old to explore and get the most out of the event.  St. Thomas is the only host city of Day Out with Thomas in Ontario, and proceeds from the event benefit the Elgin County Railway Museum.

New this year:

For the first time ever in the history of Day Out with Thomas, children are able to speak with their favourite engine - Thomas!

Of course, the actual ride upon the train being pulled by Thomas the Tank Engine is the highlight of the day.  Yet, in addition there are numerous various activities around the grounds.

Some of the fun activities that are not to be missed are storytelling, hands on crafts and lego.  There is also facepainting and fun tattoos that kids won't want to go home without checking out.  A big hit always is the Island of Sodor hay maze and balloon animal art.

Please visit my facebook page to see more photos from the day.

My sister and her family had a great time together at Day Out with Thomas.  There is so much to see and do and the kids were so excited to be there.  St. Thomas, Ontario does a fabulous job hosting the event and ensures that all guests are happy and comfortable.  My sister wanted to note that she is a nursing mom of a newborn and was pleased to find comfortable nursing stations and changing areas.

Day out with Thomas: The Thrill of the Ride Tour motors onward and may be making its way to a center near you.  Next stop in Canada is Winnipeg and then heads back down into the United States.  Find where Thomas is headed to next and how to get tickets for your family by visiting: TicketWeb

Disclaimer:  I was offered tickets for my sister and her family to attend the event, no other compensation was received.  All opinions are those of the blog owner and author.

My son was always so enamoured by Thomas! And I was always happy to let him be ... it's a charming character with no crazy fast animations, violence, or adult undertones. Just a good, solid children's show. I know he would have loved to have seen a REAL LIVE THOMAS ... what a thrill for a kid!

I really need to get my kids to this next year! It looks like such fun. Love all of the free activities that are included, though I'm sure the train ride would be the highlight.

What an awesome day! I have wanted to take the kids to see Thomas for two years now, but alas the stars have not aligned. Seeing your pics makes me want to renew efforts for next summer!

Isn't it a great event! DS6 was OBSESSED with Thomas when he was little! We took him to see Thomas and had a great adventure! We actually had the opportunity to go again last year. The kids were a little old of it, but it was still very thrilling!
