Sizzling in the Summer Sun

With the summer months upon us, its time to enjoy all it has to offer.  The days are long and full of visits to the park, splash pad, and riding scooters, all ending with sultry nights spent sitting around a camp fire.  The living is good and relaxed during the summer time.  As Canadians, we need to take each day and enjoy it to the maximum, as all too soon those winds of change will be blowing again.

We live in an older home, which doesn't have central air conditioning, so we rely on open windows on a breezy day, and portable air conditioners.  When we can get out of town, we head over to Lake Huron and enjoy a day at the beach.  Often we go with friends or neighbours and make a day of it, including staying for a picnic lunch or barbeque dinner and maybe even staying long enough to watch a summer sunset.  On those days when we can't get away, we may drag out the sprinkler as a way to cool off, or the kids may get into a water balloon battle with neighbourhood friends.

Then, for two glorious weeks each summer we enjoy heading to the cottage, where the tall trees surrounding, always keep the cottage naturally cool.  We love the crystal clean waters of the bay, and it is so refreshing just to dip your toes in.

Really, though, the summer heat is very welcome.  Canadian winters tend to drone on forever, while the other three seasons seem to be over in a flash.  We'll be soaking up the sun and maybe sizzling a little too - and that is okay by me!

Do you love the summer heat, or prefer to stay cool inside, in the air conditioning?

We are on our 6th year now without A/C so it's fair to say we love the heat :)

I prefer it to be cool inside - I get grumpy hahaha.

I love to be cool... but the summer has sucked so far here in NS... bring on the heat!

You will not catch me outside in the summer heat. I am cooped up in the house with my portable air conditioners blasting away.

I love the summer heat (living in Canada where we basically have winter for 5-6 months a year!) BUT I also love my A/C..

I can handle heat up to a point, and then I want an air conditioner. When I was growing up, my mom hated the heat so on very hot days (over 25 C) we'd head for the lake. When my hubby and I were first married, we lived in a west-facing non-air conditioned apartment, so we'd go out in the evening to somewhere air conditioned - movie theatre, mall, parents', etc. :)
