If I were to have a do-over of my own wedding I would chose an early October ceremony. Our wedding was June the eighteenth, almost nineteen years ago. What makes my wedding day so memorable was the heat! The day we were married was a scorcher, with a very warm breeze. I'll never forget standing at the front of the church in my dream Vera Wang dress in all my glory, in what should of been my moment to shine. Yet, all I could think of, was how the dress was not chosen with consideration that the day could be hot.

Looking back, if I was shopping for a wedding gown again, I now know to consider the time of year, and what kind of weather we are likely to encounter. It's one of those live and learn moments in life. Knowing what I know now, I would also look for a discount wedding dress at a pre-owned bridal shop. I paid over two thousand dollars for my dress, almost twenty years ago, I am almost afraid to see the prices of today (especially, since I have two daughters). Pre-owned is a smarter way to shop for that special gown. Why not save a little money and put it toward a down payment of a first home, or a fantastic honeymoon trip? I know, I could sure use that money now, and often think of my wedding gown, which is carefully stored away in a keepsake box in my hope chest.
I admit to still flipping through bridal magazines when I get the chance. There is just something so magical and exciting about those special day gowns, and I do look forward to someday bridal gown shopping with my two daughters, and hopefully, one day with a to-be daughter in law.
Until then, I will continue to enjoy browsing bridal gowns from the sidelines.
