They are one of those things which you take for granted, until they stop working. Household appliances.
When I think of my loyal appliances, I tend to not give them credit for the hard work they are constantly doing around my home. I think our generation just expects the appliances to be working and sometimes they do quit. My dryer has been causing me grief for about a week now. It just won't stop beeping. I like to hang our clothes outside to dry, but old man winter is holding on so tight, that hanging my laundry out just wouldn't dry, yet. I know spring is coming, bringing warmer, sunnier days ahead, but until then, I still need my trusty dryer.
So, why is my dryer beeping? I may need to call my neighbourhood appliance repair guy to come have a look. We've done everything we can think to try to stop the beeping, including cleaning the outside vent and vacuuming the inside filter, thinking that may be causing the problem. The beeping does stop for a while, only to start up again shortly.
While, I do want to have my dryer back in working order, as soon as possible, I would be completely devastated if anything was ever to go wrong with my dishwasher. With a family of five and children which like to eat, there is always dirty dishes in the dishwasher awaiting a cycle.
If anything ever happened to our dishwasher I would be frantic, and would have dishwasher repair on speed dial on my phone. There would be no wait and see approach with it, or trying to get my husband to tinker with it to see if he could fix the problem.
This just gets me thinking. How did people handle everyday household chores before we had the convenience of our hard-working appliances?
