Mandarin Restaurant Welcomed My Family For Dinner

With Valentine's Day only a few days away now, we thought we would do something fun together as a family.  A special family meal out at Mandarin sounded like a  perfect way to celebrate Valentine's Day and Chinese New Year at the same time.

My husband and I enjoy Mandarin Restaurant and have visited several times over the years.  This was the first time the younger kids have accompanied us.   Mandarin is an award winning, all you can eat buffet, which is perfect for visiting with adults and children alike.  With a huge selection of fresh and delicious food, there is certainly  something to please everyone, even those with picky palates.

Mandarin Restaurant is family friendly and go out of their way to accommodate families with children of all ages.  In fact, the first thing I was asked when making the reservation was whether I required high chairs for the children.

Welcome to Mandarin

Once a customer walks through the doors they are greeted and well taken care of from that moment on.  As you are walked through the restaurant to be seated,  you are always asked if this is your first visit.  If indeed it happens to be your first visit,  the hostess offers a tour of the food layout and what you can expect to find, and where to find it.   Our children had eyes as wide as saucers as we walked through, seeing all the fresh salad selections, and piping hot food ready to enjoy.  Not to mention, delectable looking desserts and an ice cream sundae bar.

Welcome to Mandarin Restaurant!
Mandarin Restaurant is large and spacious, with loads of seating area, all within close distance to where the food is served.  The kitchen staff is very attentive at keeping food replenished and rotated.  The wait staff is dedicated and keeps a close eye on your table to help with any questions or needs you may  have.   The restaurant is separated into several distinct dining rooms, all  with lovely decor.  The London location of Mandarin  is able to accommodate 350 patrons at a time.  Each table has plenty of space, making it comfortable and private.

Beautiful and relaxing

For our dinner out, my family was seated in the Fish Room, which is a large dining room separated with an aquarium wall.   As we walked toward our table, no less than four staff members welcomed us to Mandarin!   Taking care of us were three servers, Andrew, A.J. and Sam.  These  young men kept a keen eye on the people eating within the room and were always attentive to what we were in need of - a drink refill, a cracker to break the king crab legs, or more napkins to wipe rib sauce off of my son's face.    While we were there the staff sang happy birthday at three separate tables for people celebrating.     The staff at the London location clearly were working as a team, headed by managing partner Margaret Chen, who not only stopped by our table, but also at the other tables around the room.

Leave with a Smile

We enjoyed plate-fulls of food from many of the stations.  Mandarin Restaurant is an ideal place to take a family, big or small, as the selections are so vast.  My young daughter ate to her little hearts content, including lots of fresh fruit and chocolate dipped strawberries.  My son loved trying the salmon, but was also excited to see he could have mashed potatoes with gravy.  My hubby raved about the king crab legs.  For myself, I enjoyed the fresh salad bar, and lemon chicken.    The sign of a good restaurant is not only great food, but one which keeps the kids happy.

As we were leaving, we even purchased a couple of little souvenirs available at the door to commemorate and celebrate Kung Hei Fat Choy.   We were each offered a  red envelope which is a symbol of luck for the new year, and as we left we were thanked for coming, and wished a nice evening.

Happiness at Mandarin Restaurant
We had a relaxing and fun  family evening at Mandarin Restaurant.  The atmosphere and food were perfect for our Valentine's Day/Chinese New Year celebration.

I've only been to the Mandarin in our town once. It's a favourite of friend's of ours, they go almost weekly so it must be good. :)
