Finding Hope this Christmas Season at London Children's Hospital #MiracleMoms

I am thrilled to share my association with Children's Health Foundation, which supports the Children's Hospital at London Health Sciences Center.  Over the coming months, you are likely to read posts and tweets using the hashtag MiracleMoms.  I want you to know that everything I post and share will come straight from my heart.

Have you ever been a patient, parent of a patient, or a visitor at London's Children Hospital?

I had never stepped foot inside the Children's Hospital before today.  I knew where it was and I've always said I was so thankful I had never had the need to visit.

All that is still true, I am thankful I've never had the occasion to use the facilities. However, after having the opportunity to walk the halls, and watch the passionate care being given to sick babies and children, by a dedicated team of health care providers, I am changing that statement.

I am blessed and humbled to visit the Children's Hospital.

What I saw on my visit has changed the way I look at the hospital, and it has changed me.

This holiday, please remember those precious children who are fighting to survive. Many who are fighting to be here for another Christmas.    Remember those mommies and daddies who are right there beside their sick or injured child.  Remember the dedicated staff who won't be home with their own families this Christmas, but rather caring for the tiniest of patients.

Consider donating a new unwrapped toy during the annual Toy Drive
  December 17th from 4:00 - 6:00 PM.

If you are able to help bring a smile to the face of a sick child on Christmas morning, please contact Jennifer Baxter.

Consider a Raising Hope Gift

This Christmas when thinking of buying a gift for a teacher, or someone on your list who has everything, why not make a gift in their name to Children's Health Foundation?  It doesn't have to be a lot, yet every dollar matters when it comes to the health and care of children.    Know that every dollar donated to London Children's Hospital stays right her in our community.

Consider the young family which we visited in their hospital room

A young family from Thunder Bay was so kind to allow us to visit them in their hospital room.  They've been in London since the end of August, and have many more months of treatment ahead.  Their precious baby has leukemia.   Though, when we walked into their hospital room they smiled.

They have hope, all thanks to the Children's Hospital.

It's the thought of the babies, the childrens and the parents that will spend their Christmas in the Hospital that has me all misty eyed this morning. So important to take a step back and count our many blessings at this time of year.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us!

What a great post! This is something so near and dear to our hearts, as we have had a baby in the hospital for the first 3 months of her life. Thank you for sharing this.

Sadly we have no Children's hospital in our entire province. One is going to be built eventually.....It's so important to have a dedicated Children's hospital.

This was a great opportunity to see the inside and the many really critical elements that all work together to make this happen. I am grateful for such amazing health care in our backyard.
