Be Prepared for Winter Driving

For many years I traveled back and forth from work, and I generally had nerves of steel when it came to winter driving.  I really didn't have a fear of driving in blinding snow, or slippery roads.  I just knew how to adjust my speed and drove accordingly.    Now, that I am not in the habit of driving in that kind of weather any more, it  makes me rather nervous when I have to venture out.  Or, maybe I am just getting old.

My husband has an hour commute to and from work every day.  Most of the driving is cross country and I think generally he enjoys the drive, as it is a chance to decompress.  Yet, after the episode in the summer, when his car broke down on the way home from an afternoon shift, I often worry about the reliability of his vehicle.  Now, that winter is upon us, I really hope his car will safely transport him to and from work every day.

I think it is really important for his vehicle to have all wheel drive, like the Subaru Forester.  All wheel drive will give him the safety and performance, no matter what the weather throws at him.   Plus, it would give me the peace of mind that he can get to his destination.

This weekend, it will be a good idea to get an emergency kit put together just in case he does happen to get stranded.  We will include a flashlight, warm clothing and some non perishable food.

Do you keep an emergency kit in your vehicle during the winter months?

We do have a winter kit! We keep it in all year round so that we never forget to put it back in during the winter months.

I ALWAYS have a winter kit in the car! My hubby used to laugh about it but he long since realized how important it is! :) We also keep it in all year round.

Ugh, that time of year. We don't have a winter kit, although this year I intend on putting one together.

Thanks for the reminder. We have CAA and usually stay within the city, but with tiny passengers, it's ALWAYS better to be safe than sorry!

We don't have a emergency kit. I really should prepare one especially with little kids in the car. I have CAA but I should get something together, you never know when you won't have cell service.

I don't have a car - but when I did I always had CAA. It was nice to know I had it if I needed it.
