I can remember our first Christmas as a family of three very well. Emily was only nine months old and I was so excited about seeing the magic of Christmas through her eyes. Yet, the reality was she was an active baby on the move. I couldn't have my normal holiday decorations out, as she was pulling everything down. We had to have a barrier around the Christmas tree for fear she would climb it. Of course, we went way overboard with gifts that she had little interest in, and was actually more interested in playing with the wrapping paper and the boxes.
That first Christmas, I started a tradition, even though I didn't know it was going to be a tradition at that time. I had one gift for Emily which we would have her open on Christmas Eve. We began the tradition of giving the children new snugly pajamas to sleep in while awaiting Santa's arrival. A lot has changed over the years, and these days when I am shopping for those pjs , I am looking for organic clothing for children.
No Christmas is complete without a new outfit for the holidays, even for baby. I've done everything from the traditional red dress to fun and bright clothing, as seen from Love It Love It Love It. I have the Christmas portraits of each child hung in the foyer in their holiday finest. It is fun the number of visitors which comment on them when entering our home.
I am so thankful that I've had the blessing of having three baby's first Christmas. Precious memories were made those first Christmas mornings, which will last a lifetime.
