I take great pride in my children and consider them my greatest achievement.
No, I am not the mother I want to be, but I am the best mother that I can be. I am so blessed to have the opportunity to have three unique, loving souls, who I can call my children. My heart sings each and every time I hear the word Mom, only those three small people will ever call me mom and it is not a role or responsibility which I take lightly.
In their own way, each and every mommy should consider themselves Mom of the Year.
Each successful applicant has won $10 000.00 for personal use, and $10 000.00 for a charity of their choice. Coming at the end of September there is to be a gala where the ultimate Mom of the Year will be announced, and awarded $100 000.00 for their charity.
Reading through the stories of the eight finalists I felt the heart strings being tugged. I am so proud to be called mom, amongst these amazing ladies. I was particularly drawn to Carol Westberg. She is a cancer survivor - in 2004 she was diagnosed with an incurable form of cancer. Since her diagnosis she has raised money for Myeloma Patient Society and counsels patients across Canada. Carol Westberg is who I strive to be. Her daughter is incredibly proud and summed it up beautifully at the end of her application saying that her mom never gave up and keeps going no matter how tired or how defeated you might feel, and to persevere against all odds.
Congratulations to all of the well-deserving finalists. What an inspiring group of women, who are the epitome of the word mom.
