Summer is winding down and part of me is sad to see it go. The other part of me welcomes the return of Autumn and all its splendor.
Now, when we go outside we hear the crickets chirping, and I've even noticed a tree down the street starting to turn colours. I am not sure why that tree always seems to turn so early, but it does. Now, a visit to the garden center is to pick out Fall Mums, and without a doubt pumpkins will be soon to follow. We've even started to feel a chill in the air as overnight approaches. Once again, we've been able to pull the comforter up onto the bed. There is no better sleep than a cool night with the blankets wrapped around tightly.
Yet, just yesterday on the news I heard that our Fall is going to be pretty hot, much like our spring and summer. While, I've enjoyed the heat of this past summer, I was rather looking forward to a break and welcoming the cooler, drier air of September to arrive. I love to slip on a sweater and take a drive through the country to see the leaves turning colours in the woodlots. Or, even just to look out the window and see leaves fall and drift silently to the ground. I love the peace and serenity of Autumn.
In the end, we really haven't any choice when it comes to the weather. We take what we are given and enjoy each day as it arrives.
Are you looking forward to cooler days and nights, or do you long for a never-ending summer?
