New Beginning in a New Home

Just the other day, I was surprised and a little stunned to hear that an old friend and neighbour was putting their home up for sale.  Unfortunately, their health has taken a downturn and they are no longer able to keep up with all the maintenance which a house requires.  It does seem sad to get to that stage in life, yet, I do feel it is better to make that decision now, rather than later when there aren't any choices.

As they list their home on the real estate market, they are making preparations to purchase a condo.

Condos are a much sought after home alternative.   I think, though, that a good rule of thumb is to take a little time and get to know the condominium complex and make sure it is a good fit with the way you live.  Take the time to ask questions and make several visits during various times throughout the day or evening just to see how things function.

For my neighbours, their number one reason for moving to a condo, is not having to worry about yard work or snow removal.  Many complexes offer amenities such as a pool, and other recreational facilities, which are always a nice bonus.   In my neighbours case assigned parking close to the door is a must.

A new beginning in a new home can be exciting and possibly a little unnerving.  Just be sure that the condo complex you choose to move into suits your lifestyle. Condos are as diverse as the people who live in them. Find your perfect home by looking  for condos such as District Griffin, which is rich in history, or, maybe a peaceful small town setting is what you desire.

I wish my old friend and neighbour all the best in their new home and look forward to dropping in to visit them in their new place.

It definitely would be a difficult decision to make, they're smart to recognize that the time has come. I hope they enjoy everything their condo has to offer & look it it as an exciting new adventure!

I could totally see myself living in a condo one day...

it must be scary to hit that point where you can't stay in your family home. :(

This post actually makes me kind of sad, as my parents have started talking about the possibility of selling their home and moving into a CONDO!!! They talk about all the benefits like not having to cut their lawn or remove their own snow, or do maintenance. Sadly, this is a reality that comes with aging. I don't want to think about my parents selling! I hope it doesn't happen! Selfish me!

If I didn't have a family, I'd live in a condo. I love the added benefits but, I can totally see my parents doing the same. I guess it's what happens with age. Sad but, a chance for new beginnings!

I've always been intrigued by the condo life, although I don't think it'd suit my lifestyle.

Hopefully your neighbours can rest a little easier once they move.

My dad and his wife recently moved into a house-style condo. It's like a townhouse but without a basement and a yard. They do not have to do the small patch of grass in front or snow in the winter. It sounds really great and I thought maybe I would like a house-style condo someday... however... I would need a yard! Most of these places do not allow pets, and I can't imagine my life without my dog...
