Howard B. Wigglebottom {#giveaway}

This is our second time reviewing a Howard B. Wigglebottom book.

If you aren't familiar with Howard B, let me share that he is the kind of guy you would like to get to know.  Visit Howard at The We Do Listen Foundation.

The We Do Listen Foundation is enabling children to feel good about themselves.
Visit them and find out all they have to offer, including free songs, activities and more.

This time Howard B. Wigglebottom is sharing the story of having a monkey on his back.  We've all been there, so this a relate-able for those young and old.

Join Howard and read a story about telling the truth, and how lying and deceiving people leaves you feeling.  It is easy to lie and all too soon lies tend to pile up and take a toll on a soul.  This book teaches children the importance of telling the truth and keeping your conscience free and clear.

I love Howard B. Wigglebottom books for their interactive section at the end of the book.  It is a great resource for parents and caregivers to keep the conversation going after reading the book to their children.  It gives suggestions for lessons and reflections based on the story.

But the real test comes from the reactions of my five year old daughter, Jillian.

Jillian is an emerging reader, and is starting to recognize some sight words, so she is in love with books.  As we read the book together I would ask her a few questions about the book and if she though it was right to tell friends and family lies.  Of course she would say no, yet I catch her in lies quite often.  I asked her how she feels when she knows she has deceived someone and how she thought Howard was feeling.    This book is a great teaching tool.

Jillian loves the beautiful illustrations and pointed out aspects of the story in pictures, she especially liked watching the monkey grow larger on Howard's back as he told more lies.

Another great book from the Howard B. Wigglebottom series!
