Tweeting all MPs....Do you have a great chicken breast recipe? #WinWithChicken

Are you aware that hunger affects people in every community across Canada?  Forty percent of the people who use food banks are children.

May 7 - 11th is Hunger Awareness week in Canada

Everyone Wins With Canadian Chicken

Three Food Banks in Canadian communities will win!

The Chicken Farmers of Canada are asking MPs from coast to coast to submit their favourite chicken breast recipe, for a chance to win a money donation to a food bank in their local community.

First Prize:  $ 10 000
Second Prize:  $ 5000
Third Prize:  $ 2500

Join me by tweeting and/or contacting your local MP, so they can get on their chef's hat, and take part in this fun, yet important competition.  Find your MPs contact info and let them know that you encourage them to submit their best chicken breast recipe.

After you find your MPs twitter handle, you can even use this tweet:

Hey @MPxxx, our local Food Bank needs $10,000. Pls submit ur chicken sandwich recipe. http://bit.ly/HU9Zwu #WinWithChicken

The winning MP recipe will be served to over 10 000 people at the 20th Annual Great Canadian Chicken Barbeque in Ottawa on Canada Day!
All MPs recipes will be included in a cookbook which will be available for download.  Contest deadline is May 31, 2012.

Each and every week I read in my community paper the items that our food bank is appealing for, so I know that our food bank is well used.   We live a small rural town, where people wave and chit chat on the street corners.  I don't see hunger as a problem in our little community, but it is.   So often, we think hunger is a big city problem, but the reality is it affects everyone, everywhere across our country.  Thank you to the Chicken Farmers of Canada for offering to give much needed donations to three food banks.   Let's get behind our MPs and encourage them to take time out of their busy schedules to participate in Everyone Wins With Canadian Chicken.

It's called Social Good

All it takes is a single tweet or email to get the ball rolling.  You never know, your MP may have an amazing chicken breast recipe that they have been dying to share.

"Tw-Eat In"  Twitter Party
Let's "Tw-Eat In"  together and start a conversation which can make a difference.

Learn more about #WinWithChicken by joining a twitter party on May 9th at 8:00 PM - 9:30 PM (ET).    There will be twitter party prizes and lots of  discussion about Canadian Chicken, Food Banks Canada, and Maple Leaf Foods.  Be sure to check out the details and RSVP.

Chicken Farmers of Canada

The Chicken Farmers of Canada represents 2700 farmers.  They ensure that the chicken on our tables is safe, delicious and raised using high quality standards.

I am a huge fan of chicken, and could eat it every day.  I can not wait to see what our MPs come up with and look forward to trying out some of their recipes!  Until then, I'll be tweeting and hoping my local MP has a recipe which he would like to share and enter in the competition.  Together we can make a difference and help feed those who are hungry!
