Yes, this is a post about eggs and my emotional attachment to eggs.
While Grandma and I cracked eggs in the house, my Grandpa was outdoors working. Grandpa was an egg producer.
I spend hours-on-end gathering eggs, sorting eggs, and placing eggs in cartons, to be sold in his hatchery. It was a definite labour of love for Grandpa, and he had many, many customers who came daily to buy their eggs directly from the farm. Ultimately, I look at a egg and I think of those days spent with Grandpa and his eggs.
Things may be done a little differently now, but the Egg Farmers of Canada are just as dedicated to providing the best eggs to families right across our country.
We've all heard about the health benefits which eggs offer us. In my home we consume a lot of eggs each week, most weeks at least a dozen and a half. The kids have adopted my love of eggs, well at least eating them.
Grandma always made the most perfect eggs, be it hard boiled, fried, or scrambled. Her secret to making perfect eggs each and every time, was her egg timer. I don't have an egg timer and I need one, because sometimes my eggs just don't turn out as planned. To the rescue of myself, and hopefully many others is the Egg Timer App, from the Egg Farmers of Canada.
This free app is available for download from the App Store or Android Market Place, and gives lots of options.
- Choose between instructions for boiled, scrambled, fried or poached
- Customize your cooking time based on egg size and hardness
- Find hundreds of recipes
We downloaded the app to my hubby's iPod and think it is really handy and full of great information. I think you will like it too!
In celebration of the app, the Egg Farmers of Canada are offering a great Get Cracking Gift Pack giveaway
