A Beach Birthday Party
Over the past two weeks, our family has enjoyed vacation time away from home. We are lucky enough to be able to go to a cottage in the Bruce Peninsula, which has been in the family for sixty years. If you are in Ontario, and have never visited the Bruce Peninsula, I would highly recommend it - the scenery is breath-taking and you will love the slower pace of life on the Bruce.
While there, my son Matthew celebrated his eighth birthday. When I was a kid I always felt badly for the kids which had birthdays in the summer, now, having two children with summer birthdays, I have come to realize that summer birthdays are the way to go! Summer birthdays revolve around sunshine, sand, waves and barbeques.
Celebrating at the beach is fun!
We were lucky enough to catch up with grandma and grandpa and enjoy a gorgeous summer sun-set on the dock after some fun in the surf.
Planning our barbeque meal, I once again turned to Canadian Living and their growing selection of barbeque recipes using Wonder+ Simply Free buns. While, I found Caesar Chicken Burgers intriguing, the birthday boy was the deciding voice when it came to the type of burger he was wanting on his special day. Matthew is a young man of simple tastes, and his choice was to go with more traditional Juicy Extra-Lean Burgers. (Not to worry - barbequing season is far from over, and I will be sure to try the chicken burgers.)
Of course, I used new Wonder+ Simply Free buns for our birthday celebration.
Wonder+ Simply Free buns are the first Canadian national brand which offers us a choice. Wonder+ Simply Free are free of artificial preservatives, flavours, colours, and high fructose corn syrup. And, made with unbleached flour. Making me pleased and confident to serve to my family and guests....
......especially, when you finish off the meal with birthday cake!
