Gluten Free Choices We Can All Enjoy!
I have heard the tales of my sister-in-law prior diagnosis of Celiac Disease. Heart-wrenching stories of her lying on the hospital ER floor in a fetal position because of unknown intense pain. It was frequent and debilitating and she took many trips to the emergency room before she found a doctor who thought to test her for gluten intolerance. And, she is not alone, she has good company with her cousin, as well as, thousands of Canadians who suffer with Celiac Disease and gluten intolerance. Just recently, at a memorial service for our Aunt Gail I saw her cousin waiting with a little bag of snacks for himself and my sister-in-law to share, while the rest of us ate sandwiches and baked goods.
New in stores now is Gluten Free Chex in two flavours - Honey Nut and Rice! Over Father's Day brunch I asked my sister-in-law if she had seen new Gluten Free Chex in stores yet, she was quite interested to have an option. The best part is the cereal is very good and something the whole family can enjoy! All too often, it seems that the person with an intolerance can't enjoy what the rest of the family is eating. (I've watched my sister in law peel the batter off chicken nuggets, to be able to eat fast food with the rest of us.) Now she can make her own chicken nuggets at home using Gluten Free Rice Chex, which she can buy in her local grocery store! No need to mail order or travel to a specialty store for this recipe.

In my house, we dont' have any intolerance or sensitivities. We love both cereals and have enjoyed eating both as breakfast foods and also by the handful. My kids especially love Honey Nut Chex!
I am excited about this addition to the General Mills lineup and hopefully, we will see more gluten free options very soon!
