Sorry for a vent....

Sometimes, when trying to help out other people, those other people are not so honest and are happy to take advantage of people who are honest.

Earlier this Fall, you may remember I did a series of Fall Etsy giveaways. Each of the shops featured were contacted by me. Those shop owners agreed to send a winner a prize. I bought the review item from them. Nothing was given to me for free. I bought the items because I wanted to support the store. I love Fall and I love Etsy, so I was glad to highlight shops, give them traffic, maybe a sale, and provide links to their shops. I gained nothing from doing the features. Actually, some of the shops even sent me their giveaway item and I paid for it to be sent to the winner.

One seller, who doesn't even have her Etsy shops anymore, failed to mail me the review piece I bought. I waited in good faith, and unfortunately, waiting has caused me to go over the 45 day paypal dispute claim cut off date. I don't work, I make very little money off my blog, and this is a $45 loss for me. She doesn't return emails and has completely disappeared with my money.

I totally believe in karma....Courtney Herz!! You took my money and didn't supply the goods, that to me is a thief.

Moral of the story...Buyer Beware!

Furthermore, I recently held a giveaway for a retail store and they too have failed to answer emails and supply the agreed upon giveaway prize. Luckily, this time, I am not out any money. Just a winner who doesn't have a prize. They had strict stipulations that they needed to know the winners info to confirm winning with one week of the giveaway wrap up. So, I guess their way of not having to fulfill their end of the bargain is to not answer emails. Interesting method!

This one is blogger beware of working with them and I would guess buyer beware as well. If this is the way the do business.

Sorry for the vent. But, I put a tonne of my time into this blog. I am obviously not blogging for fame or fortune here, just something I enjoy doing. Situations like this really leave me bitter.

I am sorry if this seems unprofessional, I don't like doing things like this. But, I feel these are unscrupulous people.

that totally sucks when things like this happen, I would want to share the news as well. Hopefully it doesn't happen again. I was here the other day but before that it had been a while, so I don't know when you got your new blog design, but I love it! so cute!

This is totally professional Pam and I am sorry this has happened to you. You support so many crafters and products and are always fair. I hope you feel better unloading and exposing the "Not Fair Person". Some day this will come full circle on the person when they least expect it. Love you.

Love and Hugs, Laurie

sorry to hear about this Pam! What a jerk that woman is, I'm guessing she thinks she'll get away with this!! I am tempted to go blast her, but I dont know if that would help. I think just letting everyone know her true colors is helpful, so that others wont get in the same situation with her.

I've purchased from a store on Etsy too, and never got my items. Left a negative feed back.
Also have dealt with larger companies that didn't send out prizes after the give away was over. Usually I have other items around from other reviews or items I've bought - so I send the winner a different gift.
It is very frustrating and you are definitely entitled to vent!

That is so bad for all the honest and hardworking crafters out there. I am sorry you had to be victimized like this. You are great.

You have every right to be pissed! I would be furious! Hubby says he thinks you can still file with paypal after the 45 days, but you probably have to go through customer service to do so, but hey its worth a shot to get your $45 back!

I wonder how many other people she did this too? She probably did other review giveaways and never sent them their items either. I wonder how many people got scammed and how much money she made off of it. Hope it was worth it to her, because I doubt she will ever make another dime now! Does she have a facebook? Would be nice if she did, then she can be passed around the WAHM community on FB so everyone knows not to support her "business" and to steer clear of her!

Im sorry this happened to you, its people like her that ruin the trust for all the honest WAHM and start up businesses online.

To Gen: That is very sweet of you to offer that! It amazes me how some people will step up to fix others messes, and you are very kind to want to try to help out! We need more people like you out there, then this kind of stuff wouldnt happen so much!

Wanna hear something interesting? I just found her OTHER blog and website.

She is opening a shop online even though she closed her etsy one. Ruin your shop reputation, then close down and open a new one under a new name? Sounds fishy to me....

Terrible. You shouldn't feel bad about letting us all know.
People need to know who are rip-off artists.
Things can happen. Problems. Whatever. An apology would go a long way, I'm sure.
But it looks like she just closed down one shop and opened 2 more elsewhere!

She also is on artfire, under Phoebe's Attic:

If nothing else, I would contact them, and leave negative feedback.

I would try anyway with paypal to file a complaint. I can't tell you how many sponsors i've had that haven't fulfilled their prizes. I've only had one experience buying on etsy and it was a positive one.

Oh, and here's her twitter:

Now I'm curious who the retail store was. You don't have to tell me if you're still trying to work that one through, but curiousity has got this cat.

Gosh, Pam, that's AWFUL! I am so sorry that this happened to you. I hope that you continue to pursue this matter with PayPal and that it is resolved to your satisfaction. That's so nice that your first commenter offered to provide a prize for the winner. :)
