Back to class with green school + {giveaway}

Back to school is upon us here in Ontario. Putting the future of my children and caring for this planet is on the top of my priority list as I gather school supplies. I have come to realize that what I do today, impacts the lives of my children and their children down the road. So, while looking for school supplies this year I am thinking of the environmental impact I am making with each purchase.

Small things that we all do, and that we probably don't think much about or the impact it has on the environment and the world around us.

Small things like pencil cases. We all buy them, but have you ever put much thought into that plastic or vinyl pencil case? Plastic and vinyl are most likely not even going to last the whole school year, with the normal wear and tear that children put them through. And, where do those pencil cases end up? Land fill, (for who knows how many years).

green school gives the option of a durable, washable, zippered cotton pencil case.


How about when your child has book, pizza, and milk orders. We have all sent them back to school in plastic baggies, and never gave it a second thought. But, now that I think about it...think of all the baggies ending up in the garbage in each class. Think all of the baggies in the garbage throughout a whole school.


green school has a the perfectly sized mini tote for just those days when you need to send in those forms and money. Teachers can easily take your child's forms and money and send your mini tote back home.


At the school my children attend they have always used large zip-lock plastic bags for sending home communication, like student planners and newsletters.


I think the time has come to change to green school's book tote. They are large enough to carry library books, notebooks, and all the other stuff that has to go back and forth from home to school. Last year, I had to buy a new planner for my son half way through the year. His had fallen apart due to the abuse it was taking in his backpack. I have already told him to carry his planner in the book tote!

Each tote is made of 100% organic cotton canvas and is dyed and printed with vegetable-based inks. All the totes are zippered, so I don't need to worry about papers or money becoming lost along the way. All three totes are very well made and will last this school year and beyond. I love that they are washable for when they get mucked up by young students. They also, all have a place to put your child's name.

Little changes today, but, changes that can have a lasting effect for generations to come.
