Christmas 2009

Christmas began on Dec 23, with a celebration with my brother and his wife and my sister and her family, and of course Nana and Papa. We had supper and then opened some gifts.

Christmas Eve found us visiting with Lyla and Kelly and Ryan at our house.

An emergency visit to the vet.

And, Christmas Eve church service....Matthew was a wise man and Jillian attempted to be a shepherd which ended in tears and then Jillian and I went to the church basement to play for the rest of the service.

Christmas day we awoke to find that Santa had indeed stopped in for a visit. We check the Santa tracker at around 11:30 PM and found he had just been to Toronto, so we dashed to bed thinking Santa would be at our home very shortly.

In the evening we headed back to Nana and Papa's for Christmas dinner and some more gift opening for the kids.

Boxing Day we were off to Grandma and Grandpa's for their family Christmas. Another great meal and a mountain of gifts later.....

Emily and Matthew headed down to Aunt Shelley and Uncle Keith's for the night and I wasn't to see them again until two days later when we were ready to head home.

A trip to the emergency room for Jillian was thrown in the mix. She had an ear infection last week and her tubes are out as well, so it has been non-stop with poor little Jill for the last 10 days. This time she had croup. It actually worked out well with the older kids staying at their cousins since Jillian was feeling so badly and needing lots of love and attention.

We traveled back home last night through a snow storm, but it was time to get the kids back home and into their routine and sleeping in their own beds. When we got home our driveway was filled with snow! When we left their was just a dusting of snow. First thing this morning Tom had to dig out the snow blower and get to work on cleaning up the yard. FUN!

The remainder of the Christmas break is going to be pretty low-key. New Years Eve we will do out chocolate fondue, but other than that we will try to stick close to home and spend time getting well!

Looking at those pictures with the mounds of gifts and chaos of people reminds me so much of Christmas growing up in my large family. Sigh... I miss those days!

Poor Jillian. I'm sad to read she wasn't feeling well during Christmas. Hope she's feeling better now.

Can't believe you got so much snow (well, I guess actually I can since you get lake effect) We still have only had a light dusting.

Happy New Year and God bless you in 2010! Let's try & meet up sometime this year ;-)
