Hello Fall!

Last night was the 'official' end to summer here on my little street.

Every Labour Day weekend my neighbour hosts a street bbq and potluck. It gives us a wonderful opportunity to just sit and chat with the people who live closest to us. It seems too often in life we rush around and don't take the time to say hi. I always enjoy this chance to visit with my neighbours.

The kids love it.

The kids on this street all play really well with each other, and so this was just a more organized event with food and games, but the most exciting thing for the kids (and me) is the neighbour has an old John Deere farm tractor in his shed. He hooked it up to a little wagon and he took us on a ride. What great old fashioned honest-to-goodness fun!

You can just imagine the kids yelling out to people as we passed, and the waving and the smiles.

So goodbye summer. Hello fall, it has officially arrived!

Makes me think of church hayrides when I was a kid. What fun they were.

Sounds like such a fun time - I love when neighbors act neighborly and actually interact with each other! ;-)

That sounds like such a wonderful idea! I love the tractor ride! :) It doesn't feel as though your summer should be over, does it? It went so quickly! Spring is here in full force and we're already experiencing temperatures in excess of 29 degrees C! I think we're in for a HOT summer!
