Aloha!

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

This weeks question:

How much do you spend on back to school?

Do you buy fall clothing for them now, or wait until the weather cools?

my kids aren't in school yet so I don't have to worry about it! But I'd probably buy a few things now...but most when the weather cools.

I'm lucky now because the kids have stopped growing. Now we only buy things when they have to have them. No more complete wardrobe overhauls every season. I love it!

Thankfully, my kids are old enough for back to school clothes to be their problem. Woohoo!

Happy Friday!

I am really not too sure how much I have spent. Probably under $50 for school supplies. Clothing we bought here and there on sale and at outlets. Used a lot of JC Penney gift cards that I earned last week with a huge sale. Can not beat $7 for Arizona jeans!

We've got one starting college this year, so we spent about $600. *sigh* (some of it was her grad $) anyhow, normally with high School, we spend about $50. With the exception of the years they needed that stupid $100 graphing calculator.

Both of my kids needed almost complete new wardrobes due to growth issues. I spent almost $800 on the two combined. I was able to get some great deals though because I went up north where they don't have an almost continuous summer & found shorts & shirts discounted up to 80%. My kids got loads of stuff although I do still need to buy them a couple of pairs of pants.

My kids aren't in school yet (3 and 1 1/2) but I see it will be a major "job" with expenses!

Have a great weekend!

As kids we did a HUGE shopping trip with all three of us for Fall clothes. Fall clothes here in so cal also end up being our winter clothes due to the similar climate for both seasons.

For my son, I buy as needed. Right now it's still warm and will be through November. Then I'll shift our clothes around and bring out the bigger sizes and warmer clothes.

I know i buy too much-BUt I have 3 childrens so it always seems like a lot and $150-200 per kid isnt that much when they are growing faster than i can keep them in clothes...with that said we do shop the clearence racks and do not buy a lot of shorts-it jeans and tees a few long sleeve-then at Christmas they get both summer and winter items...I should say that $150-200 amount includes socks underwears bras and shoes-it just adds up so quick...and the peer pressure to fit in and not be labeled also comes in to play...yiyi this is longer than i intended but we have just shopped so it was fresh on my brain

My daughter isn't in school yet so I haven't had to deal with this, but I do think that it makes more sense to buy them one new back to school outfit and buy the rest when the weather cools a little. Unless you come across a really great sale.

typically I spend 200 to 300 dollars on each kid, but this year we have spent less, as I am hitting sales and my older daughter now needs less things since she stopped growing. So far she's gotten 3 pairs of new jeans and 4 tops and a pair of high heels and a sweater vest...$177....

Younger daughter has only hit two stores so far and got a pair of flats, one pair jeans, one pair clam diggers, and 3 tops...$80.00

Still on the list is new underwear etc for both and new tennis shoes for the younger daughter. Older doesnt need it this year since she is on swim team for PE and doesnt need special shoes for this and can just get "cute" shoes now, yay!

My hubby destroys his clothes each year teaching so we spend a couple hundred on back to school for him each year.

We're not there yet, either. However, we spent $300 this year on my husband's back to school clothes. We normally don't spend anything though. He was due for some new clothes!!! :)

We have to buy some new uniform shirts (because the school colors are white and navy and the polos are WHITE of all colors!), a PE uniform, a school vest from the uniform company, school supplies....I don't wanna think about how much we'll spend. Hopefully the kiddo won't grow too much over the year.

Oh Pam,

I've just been thinking about those days when my kids were in elementary school. I didn't work outside the home then and Jim taught school. Although he worked summers, we were just making ends meet at the end of the summer. Back to school purchases were always a nightmare to me. Somehow, God always provided and I managed to have a back to school outfit, shoes, and school supplies. That first paycheck in September was a Godsend.

That said, God honored my desire to stay home with my kids. When I went to work part-time things lightened up a lot for us and I just loved those days with my little girls.

Our weather is pretty much the same year-round. It makes buying back to school clothes a lot easier.

Great question! Actually, at Alise's school, they take care of buying the school supplies. I just have to write a $115 check. Not sure if that is to much or not, but it saves me the time and fight of doing it myself so I am happy to write the check!

I spend about $300 on new clothes and supplies.

I haven't bought one back to school item so far for this school year and my daughter is freaking out! GULP!

I only bought new clothes if last seasons didn't fit anymore. Back to school supplies, only the necessities. I work very hard at not buying what we don't need.

As little as I can get by with! But this year, with two headed to college, the answer is "a whole lot".
