The Weekend in Review

As some of you know I developed a raging case of Pink Eye on Thursday. When I woke up I knew my eye was bothering me, I thought it was allergies. However, as the day progressed the eye became worse and worse. By 3 PM my left eye was almost swollen shut. I needed to take action, but being late in the afternoon I knew I couldn't get into see a doctor, so I ended up in the E.R.

It was Matthew's school carnival Thursday evening. As I sat in the E. R. waiting my turn, the panic was rising, as I thought I was causing the kids to miss this fun event. Not to mention the $45 I had pre-spent on buying tickets before hand. The verdict was pink eye, as well as an infection of all the surrounding tissues. Let's just say not a pretty sight!

I took Jillian with me to the pharmacy, Tom took Emily and Matthew to the carnival. All was not lost.

This is the point in the post I would normally show some fun pictures from the carnival!

Fast forward to middle of the night Friday, I wake up and the other eye was oozing. Again, not pretty. So I started treatment on that second eye as well.

Emily had her spring concert for the childrens choir that she sings in Saturday night.

Saturday morning she went off to a four hour rehearsal, Matthew went to a bike rodeo with the neighbour's kids. Then in the afternoon, Matthew went to a birthday party.

I laid in bed with a cold cloth over my eyes for two hours, hoping for the swelling to go down. At, this point I decided I am a walking infection, and should not go to the concert.

Luckily, Nana and Papa were already planning on going. I asked my neighbour if she would like my tickets. Again, had $30 invested in pre-paid tickets!

This is the point in the post I would show you pictures from the concert!

Saturday evening thunder-storms rolled through the area for about four hours. Behind the storms followed a cold front. Sunday morning was cold and windy. Cold being less than 10C! Sunday afternoon we planned to take the kids to visit the summer camp they are going to (again) this summer. But, we decided who would really enjoy it in this type of weather. The wind and cold would be horrible in the wooded area that the camp is situated.

Again, this is the point I would show your pictures taken at the camp!

Can we say BUST? The weekend was a wash-out!

At, this point my eyes are starting to clear. They are still quite red, and slightly swollen, but they aren't oozing. I may be able to go out, and not be afraid of infecting the whole town.

Ugh! What a bummer of a weekend for you! Poor thing! When I worked in a bank, I got pink eye A LOT, but I don't think I've ever had it as badly as you've described yours. Icky! =(

Oh Pam!!! I am sorry your weekend was so rough. My cat had pink eye once (interestingly the only disease humans CAN get from a cat). It was not pretty and we had to put this yucky gunk in her eyes and ugh!!! I am so sorry you had to go through that. Glad to hear you are on the mend though. Hope your week is better than your weekend was.

Poor thing! I had pink eye YEARS ago. Even reading your blog made my eyes burn! So glad you're on the mend and I do hope the rest of your house don't catch it - it's quite contagious if I remember correctly!
