Aloha!

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

My question today:

Do you volunteer?

If so, where? (school, sports, charity, hospital)

Not often, but when I do its normally for a school function, or a charity thing, like Round Table / Rotary.

my hubby and i volunteer at least three or four times a year in a soup kitchen in downtown hartford. we always do easter, christmas and thanksgiving, plus once or twice during the summer. we dont just go to serve or cook, though... we provide the salad, fresh fruit, desserts and extra veggies for over 200 meals every holiday.

I used to volunteer quite a lot, but now that I have two little ones, I don't do much of that...

Yes...in my kids classrooms, on the PTO and on an HOA committee. How do I do it? Sometimes I ask myself the same thing.

I have volunteered a ton. It's not about the money. It's about living with yourself.

When I have time, I do. Church, kid's school and with my husbands school - mainly the football and track teams.

I wish I did. We do Santa Drives and donate, but don't often volunteer our time. As the girls are getting older, I want to start doing it regularly so they see it as a normal part of life.

No, but I should. This isn't a good reason, but I sometimes feel like I volunteer all day, as a social worker!

But I should volunteer with another population in the community.

As a SAHM I have been trying to volunteer. I do things for the PTA at my oldest son's school. It is hard to do much during the day with a two year old in tow. I am also trying to join a service organization that my mother belongs to. They do things for cancer patients. As a former president of Key Club I love these things.

Hi Pam,

I've been away from blogging so long. It will take me days to catch up will all of my blogging buddies.

I do volunteer, mostly at church. I always volunteered at school when my kids were still home.

In the fall, once this crazy summer is over, I want to volunteer either at Ronald McDonald House or the local hospice. Still praying about which.

If you count taking care of my sick mom... yup, 24/7. It doesn't leave any time for Official volunteering.

I can't do as much as I would like. but I do try to help out at my kids school when I have the time!

I don't have that title but I do help whenever and wherever I can. I was the room mom this past school year. That was a treat.

I used to volunteer a lot when the kids were in school. I mean A LOT, constantly!

I feel kind of guilty that I don't volunteer ... I sometimes help out at my son's school .. does that count?

No I have thought about it but as a single mom and working full time I don't know where I would find the time. It is hard enough to find the time to blog!

When life is not so crazy, we write letters/make cards for soldiers in Iraq through Soldiers' Angels. We are on the Cards Plus Team.

Ever since I was a kid my Grandma made me volunteer; soup kitchens, church, etc etc. It sorta carried on with me into a adulthood. I've done Big Brothers Big Sisters, elderly home visits, tutoring, Boys and Girls Club etc. Unfortunately, with the current adoption process being so time consuming I've let volunteering fall behind. :(

I do volunteer. I am on a committee for Algoma's Night Out. Which is a night dedicated to Neighborhood Watch with a lot of fun activities. I am also volunteering next weekend to set up a yearly Autism Awareness event here in town.

The current job I have is for a non profit. I was a volunteer for about a year and then they hired me. Right now, I really don't volunteer much.
