Aloha!

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

This weeks question:

Summer is almost here!

What strength of sunscreen do you use?

Do you pay more for a higher SPF, or a certain brand?

Coming from South Africa, where we have a hot, harsh summer, sunscreen is VERY important. We do not venture out at all without it! I have found that the larger the protection factor doesn't always mean the best protection. I generally go for nothing more than a 24, but we reapply all the time. It is not cool to get burnt!

I've heard that after a certain number they are all the same. I try to use anything over 20.

15 or 30 on myself (okay, mostly 15), but 50 on my kids.

We try to use no less than 30 but prefer at least 45. We're all very fair here. I'm partial to Jafra's sunscreen myself. :)

I usually dont even pay attention to what I put on myself. We have bottles everywhere since I always think I lose them and then go and buy more and I never seem to buy the same kind.
On the boys I use 50.

I don't use because I'm never without my shirt on and I don't stay out in the sun all the often. When I do I sit in the shade mostly. But if we are at a park that Ido need for my head I use 15. Thanks for stpping by my site. Iappreciate it :)

I buy one for all of us to use. It is a 50 (only strength they make). This year I bought the generic Target brand of the Banana Boat kids that is tear and sweat proof. Good stuff. We never burned while at Disney World.

I always use at least a 30 spf. I really like the Kinesys brand that has been featured on lots of giveaways. Are bottle is almost out, I will be buying more.

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

We use SPF 50 at my house. I prefer the stuff for kids. The brand slips my mind..the pink bottle with the little girl and the dog on the front. I won't use anything else. I have found it to not only work the best but doesn't irriate our skin.

I use Neutrogena dry touch SPF 50. It is very light and you don't feel as if you are wearing sunscreen. I also use their spray can for touch ups and the Mineral SPF tube Sephora sells. You apply it over your makeup when you are on the go.

I read an article earlier this week about SPFs. After 50 there really isn't a difference in coverage. I believe 50 blocks 98% of rays and 100 blocks 99% of rays. 100 of course is thicker and gunkier than 50 so to me it isn't worth it for 1 more % when I can just reapply.

I use 20 on my face, cause its in my makeup and thats it. I really should be better about it, but I prefer shade so I never really think about it. My kids I put 50.

Neutrogena Dry-Touch SPF 50. It's not greasy at all and I think the SPF is high enough! I see they have 100 SPF now but I'm not sure if that is needed?!

I use 30 sunscreen on both my body and face being the freckly, relatively fair-skinned, Scottish heritage woman I am ;-)

The brand I use most often is Ocean Potion that I get at Wal-mart in the States. It smells like a creamsicle!

I have to admit, I am horrible at remembering sunscreen, but I try to use a high SPF.

we're using 45 by azur.com

I tend to go with SPF 45. I learned my lesson.

I don't use it on myself, however, on the boys I do! I use water babies and get it in the highest SPF available - they are very fair skinned and we live outdoors in summer!

Thanks for asking!!
Have a great Aloha Friday!!

I usually use 20. I normally don't spend long periods of time in the sun and I don't burn, I tan.

I think 85+ It's Neutrogeana. I just go for the highest spf I can find.

I really need to use a high number, but I usually use 50! I had a skin cancer on my nose 2 years ago!

I like the spray bottles in as high of spf as I can find! Usually 70 or 50.

My son has very sensitive skin so we stick to Aveno baby lotion in 55. I'm pretty good about putting it on and reapplying.

As for me....um....

I go for clear, no rub continuous spray! At least 30 but I like 50. I'm not picky about brand but I have to have this kind -- the only one my son will allow me to apply and it is so much easier than any other kind!

I usually use 15 or so. I don't tend to be in the sun for long periods of time.

Mmmmm.... I think it's at least 30. But it definitely has to be non-stinky and non-greasy!

Hi Pam!

I only use an SPF 15. I would be using a much stronger sun screen but I'm severely vitamin D deficient. I need the sun!

Although summer is over here, I usually use sunblock SPF 15. I buy sunblock directly from the facial spa I regularly visit.
