Aloha!

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

THIS WEEK'S QUESTION:

How do you deal with a neighbour that you just can't get a long with?

There is a great giveaway going on here!

If you have a little girl, you don't want to miss this one.

Haha, wanna know what I did with 'said-neighbor' this week?? I pulled in my driveway and she was outside and started talking to me and I pretended I didn't hear her and walked inside. Hahaha! My husband said I am so rude, but seriously, all she ever does is complain about my dogs barking!

We kill'em with kindness!

I ignore them. My house has a side load garage. I can pull in and leave without seeing them...

This is what landscaping is for!!

And do not move thinking you will find better neighbors. We have a friend who has made that mistake. Every neighborhood has a loon or two.

Just don't talk to them and tell each other how much we can't stand them !

We are pretty lucky and have wonderful neighbors!!! We do have a couple that are a couple houses down and are really annoying. Most of the time we just ignore them.

That's a tough one.... because i like to right and prove my point...and sometimes i just not worth it. so i've had to try the whole "kill'em w/ kindness" thing and that's REALLY hard!!

Well, luckily now our closest neighbours are also our close friends.
We have had neighbours we didn't get along with. We try and ignore them.

Tough question - we've never had nightmare neighbors, just ones that we don't socialize with. It's a friendly wave and that's the extent of it. We do have those neighbors whose kids just wander over to play - no supervision whatsoever. Kind of annoys me but I don't say anything b/c my kids seems to be happy playing with theirs. It just gets old when we're always the ones entertaining their kids.

I ignore him. My car windows are tinted so when I drive by and he waves, he can't see me not waving. I also take funny pictures of him mowing in his Santa hat and post them on my blog.

Our homes are pretty spread out so we don't have to deal with that so much. Thank goodness! I've heard horro stories.....

This is tough! Call the police. :)

I have had several go arounds with my neighbor putting all of their junk in my yard. Using my driveway to park their vehicles in the median between our homes of which 75% I own. I finally just kept saying something to them and started giving their stuff away. If someone came over and said they liked something I said take it. It was on my property and I didn't want it there. Then I ended up having to call the police on their druggy son. He finally straighten out and moved away and we really haven't had any problems since. It was touchy for a while and we weren't speaking but now we get a long fine.

I will be honest - I don't have a neighbor I don't get along with - but she does annoy the heck out of me. She 1) slams her door all the time. 2) yells at her kids and I can hear it through the walls 3) she is obsessed with having the closets parking spot, so much so that when she isn't using one car, she leaves it parked in that spot so she never loses it, she also cannot park. I do my best to ignore it, but the parking thing gets to me, because it isn't assigned and I don't feel she has the right to leave a car she rarely uses in the closest spot to our sidewalk.

Most of my neighbors are a couple of acres away! There is one behind us though who goes berserk if we even put one foot onto an acre of his (our property adjoins). Once when a cactus of ours blew over in a windstorm it landed on part of his lot. He came right out to cut it off & threw it onto our land! Both spots are completely undeveloped btw.

We've never really had a serious problem with our neighbors, but we definitely avoid the ones we don't like.

Same as a crappy co-worker. You have to just deal. Smile and be nice, don't go out of your way, though. Be the bigger person, though it's so hard! If that doesn't work, dog poop in a paper bag on the doorstep works wonders. (kidding, but not really ;-)

Wave and smile and pray they move. It worked for us 5 years later. lol

I just ignore them, and if I see them in public I'm polite, but not really friendly, and they are the same so it works. Not everyone can like you, but everyone should be polite so I try to just do that.

I don't have one that I don't get along with...on one side nobody lives in the house, and in the other a girl our age just moved in...and she seems pretty laid back! So I don't know...no good answers on this one!

Put pink flamingos in your yard and leave the Xmas lights up all year. They'll start to ignore YOU instead of the the other way around!

i guess it depends on the circumstances. most of the time i would do my best to ignore them and whatever they are doing that is troublesome. not always easy, but most of the time there's nothing you can do to change things. at least from my experience.

I just smile and nod while ignoring every word they say. They probably think I'm crazy which is perfectly fine with me :)

Tara said...

We haven't really had to deal with that yet.. oh wait.. someone threw a rock through our upstairs window.. hmmm.. haha I just don't know who.

Smile and wave boys, smile and wave! lol
No seriously, I just ignore them, but I'm polite and never rude like they are. Hit40 is right, they are in every neighborhood, so you can't run from them :).

MarciaBrady said...

Well, I don't really do anything special, except don't make eye contact. But, if I have to, I will be as nice as I can be and hope it rubs off on them!! LOL

But, I have good neighbors for the most part.

My neighbours are my parents so I can't complain. We give each other our space and try to keep the outside tidy.

I would just avoid contact with your neighbour as much as possible
