Toilet woes

Tuesday, of last week, I asked my two year old daughter what was down the toilet!

You know, the toilet that is now sitting outside my back door. You know, the toilet that overflowed and made a mess of water in the basement. You know, the toilet that my husband worked on for an hour and a half last Friday night when he got home from work. You know, the toilet which caused a delay in us leaving for Michigan.

You know the toilet, which lead us to find the steady stream of water which was exiting our hot water heater. Yes! That toilet was actually a blessing in disguise.

When Tom went to the basement to clean up the water from the overflowing toilet he found quite the leak from the hot water heater. He ended up having 20 bags of garbage as a result. Our basement is for storage purposes only, and everything wet was either seasonal decoration or clothing that was outgrown. He called the company we rent the heater from, and they said they would be out Monday. Now, one would think when you tell them there is a stream running from the tank they would come prepared to replace the tank that day. Nooo! Not so, they had to return on Tuesday to replace the tank.

Remember when Tom was at risk for losing his job, well, now some of the people let go are now gone, and as a result Tom is working 12 or 13 hour shifts. Please tell me how that makes sense? And so, the bags of garbage and our old toilet sat outside our door the entire week. I apologized to our neighbours for being so trashy. But, when he wasn't working he was sleeping and there wasn't a chance to get to the dump until Saturday morning.

Thus, this brings me to the conclusion of the toilet woes. The question remains to be answered.

When I asked her what it was she had flushed away, she answered a shoe.

When Tom took the toilet to the dump on Saturday, he smashed it to see what caused all the trouble.

And, you know that it indeed was a shoe!

Aren't kids great!! When the boys were little, one day we couldn't figure out why our VHS player wasn't working and so Brad tried looking in it to see why the tape wouldn't go in. We found a wire and a wrench in it! Not sure what they thought would show up on the tv if they inserted a wrench.
I just noticed that your avatar has your children sitting in front of an AC tractor!! My hubby has 3 AC tractors (we used to have 14!!). That's a wonderful picture!

LOL! Aren't they funny! Stacey once flushed my watch down the loo, but fortunately nothing blocked up!

Are you kidding me????

A shoe!

Man, she was a diligent little thing to get a shoe stuffed and flushed...that's one heavy duty toilet too!

I feel for you, sister. Being a wife of a football coach, days in late summer and fall are much like the busy-ness of your husband's job.

Sometimes you gotta just let things go to get what you need.

That toilet didn't mind one bit.

Neither did the shoe...

At least you found the leak - something good came out of the "shoe flush"! Hope your hubby is able to get some rest soon...maybe by only working 8 hours!! I know, crazy!

A blessing in disguise indeed! Sorry for the big mess though. My daughter tried to flush an entire container worth of those Cottonelle moist potty wipes down at once. Luckily I caught it all in time and was able to get the bunch out before it caused issues. lol

She was telling the truth! Leave it to kids to create so much drama. I hope you all can laugh at the story now b/c it is kind of funny. A shoe in the toilet...did you ask her why?

I spent years believing that my toddler flushed my keys down the toilet only to find them in the lining of the sofa years later when we were about to trash it. The joys of motherhood!!

Why is it that some kids are absolutely fascinated with flushing stuff down the toilet, and others just aren't interested? I can't ever remember flushing anything bizarre down a toilet, but I've heard of some pretty interesting things that others have done.

Hope you like your new toilet!

A shoe! Oh my gosh! The worst thing that went down ours was Tristen's underwear when he would have accidents around age 4. Kids are so fun!

This is sort of funny. Not funny that you had to replace the toilet but funny that a shoe actually fit.
