Aloha!

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

My Question:

Do you use a code word with your kids?

OR

Did your parents have a code word with you, when you were a child?

If this is your first visit to my blog this week, be sure to enter the giveaway that I am hosting! Enter to win a porcelain pendant! Enter HERE.

We have a sound. Hard to put it into letters... something like, "chhhhh."

It is great in a store instead of yelling for eachother we make the sound. No one is annoyed by it and for some reason it carries just enough that you can hear it and find the person who is looking for you.

I scared a lady though because I didn't realize there was someone behind me and I did the noise and she thought I was making the sound at her. Oh well.

Never had a code word growing up and didn't have one for my kids.

The only code word we use is "hangin'" like-- "Hey, your butt is hangin' crack!!" Cause my 4 year old has some serious plumber crack issues and thats my way of reminding her to hike up her pants!

Hmmm.. I have actually been thinking about this lately..since my brother told me about their code word use with their kids.

I don't remember a code word when I was little.. but I think my dad would whistle.

Oh.. yes I have that fear as well of locking my baby in the car while putting the cart up.. I want to stretch with one arm on the car door and the other one to the cart..lol Too bad we don't have go go gadget arms!!

I had a code word as a child but I can't for the life of me remember what it was!

No we never did!

Never heard of code words.

We talked about it with my parents when I was a kid but we never used one.

We don't use one with our kids either. But my husband has a particular type of whistle. It is loud and can reach long distances. When the kids hear it, wherever they are, even if they are outside, they know to come running and find wherever Dad is. It works.

Haha! Code word! I remember learning about that in stranger-danger session each year at school. I would come home and enthusiastically try to get my family to have a code word and they would all look at me like I was crazy!

We don't have a code word but the scowl on my face says all!

Back in my day code words were unheard of. Today we have one & it's hard because we have to practice it so that the younger one will remember. Well to be fair, the older one too. He's still in the grips of puberty & honestly, the brain kinda rots then.

we did not have a code word, but my mom would scratch the corner of her mouth - when I got excited and would start talking too fast! so that I would remember to slow down so that others could understand me, without embarrasing me by saying something in front of my friends.

Never had a code word, but definitely had "the look"! I do think though, that a code word might work better! Have a lovely week-end!

i never had a code word with the kids... ive set them up with my hubby and friends so we could leave parties and such we didn't want to stay long at. but for my kids i have a LOOK - or THE look as my kids call it - and when they see The Look - they know the wrath of god might be preferable :).

We have a code word for if someone should come up to them and say "your mom/dad wants you to come with me" - stranger danger.

We don't-- but should.

Happy Friday!

Not so much a code word as a look or expression. Kind of an unwritten rule.

We don't. I guess I think Big Brother is too young. Plus my mom never used one with me - said that she was worried that if someone found it out (or guessed right) I would go with them and she felt better knowing I would not go with anyone I did not know. So that is what we tell Big Brother. If you do not know them do not go with them.

Nope. No code word here. But with my friends we sometimes have code words to get us out of talking to someome or if we are in a sticky situation.

When I was in Jr. high and High school, my BFF and I had a code word for tampon. It was stick of gum.

No code word, but my dad had a look that passed as a code word and he handed it down to me.

Both of my kids had "passwords" They knew to never get into a car with anyone who didn't know the password. It worked when put to the test :)

We always had a code word growing up..and a follow up question to the person giving the code word. My kids are still a little young teach them the code word (without blabbing it), but as soon as we get to kindergarten one will be implemented.

I guess we didn't have a code word. We spelled until they could.

I haven't commented here lately as my internet won't let me. It keeps cutting me off. I hope this comment makes it through.

I am not entirely sure what you mean by a code word, so I will say no...although maybe I do have one?

How is that for a definitive answer? :-D

TheAngelForever said...

Like Jenni, I am not entirely sure what you mean by it. So I say my answer is being copied off of her ;)
