Two Years Ago...

...we were departing on a trip of a lifetime. You have to understand, we don't take vacations, or trips. We were taking our children away for ten days that we hoped would give them memories to last a lifetime.

So, our trip began. We left our home in Southern Ontario on a Friday afternoon, heading south. Our plan was to get into Ohio by 10PM and then stop for the night. Saturday we made it down into Tennessee before we stopped for the night, and Sunday we made it to Orlando by late afternoon.

I look back and wonder what exactly was wrong with our heads! Why would we think it was wise to travel by vehicle with three children, aged eight, three, and eight months?

And, our trip wasn't complete without a trip to the emergency room in Georgia with two very sick children. But, somehow we made it, and the memories are etched in the minds of Emily and Matthew.

As I look at these pictures I can not believe how much these kids have grown! Just look how little they all were.

It is very true when someone says that once you go through the gates of Disney World the real world just disappears. It IS very magical inside those gates.

While it is not in the cards right now, to return to Disney World, I am really hoping that some day we will get a chance to go back.

It looks like you had a great time! We took our kids to Disney World once. In fact it was two years ago for us too. Courtney was 10, Ciara was 14 mos and I was pregnant with Conan. Let me tell you that was an adventure for us too!

Ahhhh.. WDW is one of my most favorite places on earth and I don't have kids!! lol Where did you guys stay while there? Last time we were there we stayed at the Port Orleans ~ Riverside and I don't think I'd ever NOT stay on Disney property again. It really does make you feel like you've escaped the real world and keeps you in the Magic!

I think it's cool that your 2 oldest still remember the trip & you guys are so brave to drive all that way with the 2 youngest being soooo young ;-) Brave souls! lol

Hugs

So fun - we went in June of 2007. I remember coming home exhausted and thinking that it was more trouble than it was worth. Yet now, I only remember the good and I so want to go back!

This WAS a brave trip to make in a car with 3 kids Pam. They sure have grown over the past two years too. We've only been to the first Disneyland out here in So. Ca. and that was a long time ago. Maybe we'll steal the grandkids and go have some fun one of these days.:) Have a great day Pam and I love you. Praying for Victoria.

Love and Hugs, Laurie

We went to Disney World last year and my kids loved it. It was great and many memories. I hope you get a chance to go again too.

Such fun photos! We are planning to take the girls to Disney World eventually. My guidelines are that they have to be old enough not to use a stroller, not to need a nap, and are tall enough to ride all the rides. I cannot imagine a road trip like that with them right now. You are one brave family! :)

Oh, we are really getting excited about a possible trip to Disney next year with our boys! At least we'll be starting a wee bit farther south than you, though...we're in Indiana. And we will not be traveling with any babies, either! ha! You were very brave, indeed! Looks like everyone had a ball! :)

Oh Pam, Jim and I never got to DW with our kids, but we've gone twice as "kids" ourselves. I celebrated by 60th birthday there. It is truly a magical place.

Thanks for sharing.

How fun!!! We go to Disneyland almost every year, but we have not taken the kids to Disneyworld. And so sorry you ended up in the ER. We did that one year when my youngest daughter was 10 months. Not a very fun trip.

Cute pictures!

Sounds like you all had a fabulous time. (except for the trip to the ER with some sickie)
Love the pictures.
Nothing brightens up ones day quite like Disney pictures.

it's the car ride, the bumps, the trip to the emergency room that makes is a "family" vacation! Those are the things you will look back on and laugh! I love Disney World! but I also love it because it is a great place to spend with your family! 3 years ago we had the opportunity to go with grandma and grandpa, and uncles, what a special time!

Thank you...for reassuring me that a road trip with the kiddos is possible! :) Sounds like you had a good time, even with a bump or two. I can't wait to take our kids to Disney World!

Wow that was ambitious of you!

Nancy said...

Aww the baby was so little! I agree with Yaya, that was ambitious of you to take a trip like that! We went to Disneyland in 05 and we flew, no driving for us...very wimpy i am in the car on long trips!

Wow, very brave of you! I havent been since I was 7 or so, but I still remember parts of the trip. I hope we get to go someday, maybe when we have a larger family. Hope you do get to go again too!

I TOTALLY AGREE!!! we've only been to the California Disneyland...even though we live less than an hour away from Disney world....it's on our list of things to do this year!

Brenda said...

I'm sure all the wonderful memories make it worth the drive and the trip to the emergency room ;)

What a wonderful trip! We did that same trip when we lived in OH in 04! My father-in-law and his wife live there so it really helped with our expenses! I love Florida! Busch Gardens is great too!
