What to do on a wet weekend?

The rain is pouring down, I am not complaining. I would much rather have rain than snow. Our snow is nicely disappearing, and in it's wake there is mud - lots of mud! I know from experience, that winter is not done with us yet - most likely there will be one more blast from old man winter!
With the snow melting away, one sees the garbage on your lawn. I went out this week to pick some of it up and I found a shingle off the roof. Oy! I see there has been some wind damage over the winter, so I guess we all know where our tax refund will be going. Such is life, is all I can say!

Friday the sun shone and the temperature soared, I was out and about in just a t-shirt. March 6th marked my first day of hanging clothes outside in 2009. Now, I am a bit of a fanatic about line drying my clothes. I figured it out last year and it saves us $50.oo a month if I dry outside. That really adds up, plus the fact that it is much better for our environment. I will hang clothes out every day from now until November when ever I can. The only draw back to yesterday - I had to stand in the MUD!

This morning Matthew and his Dad packed up and headed to a Beaver overnight campout. Now, that would be about the last thing I would like to do, today especially. You can just imagine how wet and muddy they will be when they return tomorrow.

Emily went to a neighbours for lunch and then a swim at the recreation center.

I went shopping for Emily's birthday gifts, since her 11th birthday is quickly creeping up on us. Jillian had a little visit at Nana and Papa's while I shopped. The big surprise awaiting us when Emily and I returned to Nana and Papa's was Cousin Lyla, Aunt Kelly, and Uncle Ryan. They had come from Michigan to see Emily for her birthday. We picked up some Chinese for supper and had a great visit with them.

What have you been up to today? Hope you are enjoying your weekend!!

I've pretty much been doing nothing, as my husband is out of town, and it's been nice!!

oh dear....age 11...that is the age i dread w/ kids I nanny for and with my cousins. It's SUCH a hard age. They are still a kid but soon to be a teenager. It's a really awkward age for a kid. (just a warning!).

Let's see, my weekend so far-I had to take a stinkin' 6 hour CPR course today and then babysat tonight.....yay...

We have been fortunate it was in the 70s here today. I can't believe it earlier this week we got 5 inches of snow! Anyway we have been out playing a lot today and plan to hit the park tommorrow. Woohoo!

Hooray for mud! I'm glad the weather is warming up for you.
$50 per month is a lot! I must have to try this. Thanks for sharing! :)

I want to install a clothes line outside so I can hang my clothes outside in the summer. But I hang them up on a rack in the laundry room all the time anyway. The only things I dry in the dryer are underwear, jeans, towels and sheets. just because those things don't dry as comfortably when hung up.

Sounds like you've had a nice busy weekend! =)

It's 12:30am right now and there is snow on the ground but it sounds like it's raining. BLAH! I'm SO over the snow!

Didn't do a whole lot today. Left the house for probably a total of half hour. Exciting stuff. LOL

That is a huge savings! I love clothes dried outside, especially sheets.

We're going to do the outside clean up this afternoon.

How I ♥ spring!

It sounds like you have had a great weekend. Aren't you glad for the nicer weather. I am even happy for the mud if it means 70 degrees. I will probably disagree with this theory in April when it rains all the time and I have muddy dogs every day. On my way to work. Enjoy the rest of the weekend!!

We LOVE our clothesline...It was one of our stipulations when we bought our house (had to be able to put one in)...I spent most of yesterday sleeping so I wouldnt be a bear at work last night, well until our dog decided she needed to go out and only I could accomodate her...Had trouble falling asleep after that.

Hi Pam! I WISH it were raining here! I haven't seen a raindrop in months! I love that you hang your clothes out on a line to dry! I just had my Dad hang one out for me last weekend! My clothes smell wonderful and dried in half the time!

(How far are you from upstate New York?)

Love you:) Enjoy your Sunday!

Hi There! Thanks for stopping over at my blog and following! It's always nice to meet new people. As for this weekend, my son was in the school play so my time was spent there but I loved it. Have a great week!

I see from some of the comments that people made to your blog that they are still drying their underware and socks in the dryer. I switched to doing everything on a laundry drying rack a couple years ago. I discovered the most amazing thing my socks and underware now last what seems like forever. Because the heat is no longer breaking down the elastic. Saving me even more money...
