March Break Wrap Up...

Little Jillian who has struggled to find her words has come out with a few more words this weekend...my favourite being Mummee. She has always called me Momma, so this is a change for her, and I love to hear it in her sweet little voice.

Emily picked up her (new to her) bike. Last fall I bought our neighbour's bike from her. They put it in their shed over the winter and I didn't tell Emily it was waiting for her in the spring and either did the neighbours. So last weekend I told her to ask about the bike...and the truth came out. We had some pretty nice weather the beginning of last week, so she was out riding the new bike.

She spent a couple of days with a friend, it started out as a birthday party which stretched out into a couple of days of fun. She came home from the friend's and promptly had a melt down of epic proportions. She ripped her blind off her window and threw things across her room. Among other punishments, she had that new i-pod taken away from her.

As a change of pace Nana and Papa took her out to their place for a couple of nights. Sunday she had a choir practice and then hung out with a fellow choirister for a couple of hours.

*********************************

Matthew spend his week playing with his buddy down the street. They spent most of their time riding their bikes and playing in their forts.

He wasn't without incident though, there is a ravine around the corner from our street. The boys went down into the ravine, which is really dangerous (especially this time of year) and followed it along until they came to the fence which crossed into the cement plant quarry. You know what happened next... When he came home soaked he spilled the beans. He had a day of punishment as well.

Sunday, Matthew and I went shopping together. We stopped to have lunch at KFC. He got a kid's popcorn chicken combo. I asked him if he was done his chicken balls. At this exact time he gave me an education on balls among other things. I suppose he thought no time like the present, it didn't matter to him we were sitting there with the after-church crowd!

And so, March break 2009 is over. On the most part the kids had a great week, except for a few typical kid incidents. Now we get back to routine, and really these last three months of school fly by.

Before we know it summer break will be here!!

Did you have your March Break last week? How did your kids put in their time?

Sounds like a pretty eventful week! We haven't had our Spring break yet. Girly Girl starts break the first week of April, I think. I love it when Mister man talks to me too. His latest thing he picked up was Ahv ooo, Mommy! It melts my heart to hear him tell me he loves me :)

Mine don't go to school yet. I would assume the day they go to school life would change tremendously.

Well,in our case only Hubby gets break when there are breaks to be had. :) And his is coming up in April. We did have a quieter week last week as one of the kiddos was on vacation and we wound up with Friday off - good for everyone except Baby Sister - she had to get shots. Ouch!!
You guys seem to have had a really nice time.

It's so weird, because the school district I work in doesn't have their break until April!!

Mumee that is so sweet!

Unfortunately I think we spent our spring break with the flu. Yuck.

I need a do-over.

Our spring break is in 2 weeks. I'm just hoping there are no major meltdowns or time outs as it's been like that lately. Oy!

Sounds like a nice week -- except for the meltdown of epic proportions! And I love that your boy has a fort! How cool! And isn't it the best when the new word start appearing? And was is better than hearing your own name.

I thought spring break was going to be 2 weeks of stress with my son at home and me trying to pack up for our move. I was VERY pleasantly surprised and we had a really nice time. He was such a big helper!

Wish we had an autumn break - unfortunately not and it will be a while before I take a break again! Although we are off to the coast this week-end - my step daughter is having her prom!

Now this is what a spring break should be about. Hilarious times with your kids, topped off with the word, Mummee. I am not sure that things get much sweeter than this.

Oh Pam,

Chicken balls, I almost wet myself!!:) I can just hear the lesson from his lips here:) So sorry about the meltdown. I remember that age and feeling so awkward myself, ~sigh~ Most of all though, I love Mummee coming from Jillian!! I love being called any version of mommy and grandma that they come up with. I love you girl.

Love and Hugs, Laurie
