The cake that saved the day. Guest blogger: Pam's husband

Let me start by saying, The best laid plans of mice and men....

My plan: arrive home from work at 8:00am. Then I would bake the cake.
When I got home, Pam said, "Go to bed. I will bake the cake."
I woke up at 12:30pm. Pam took Matthew to school and brought home subs for lunch. She said go back to bed until later. I said wake me up at three so I can get the cake iced.
At 5:00pm I woke up. Now I am rushed.
I came out to the living room to see what was going on. Emily started yelling about not having access to the list for choir. Being awake for two minutes, I didn't take it well. She retreated pouting. Within 5 minutes she was shouting at Pam and I, "Judith [her conductor] told us to bring sun glasses. This is 50 minutes before practice. Needless to say she went without. I know terrible parents.
I said i better get started on the icing so we can have cake with supper, which hadn't been started yet.
Happy Fat Tuesday, Shrove Tuesday, or Pancake day.
A quick recap: Queen of the house birthday. has to make her own cake. buy her own lunch, take the kids out into the cold dark night to various venues, still no cake!!!!

So the pancakes were made and eaten. and Pam has taken Emily to choir, Matthew to Beavers, and has come home. 6:45 pm...

I finally had time to make the icing, get the cake iced and sliced for Pam to enjoy.

And now it is 9:30 pm . It is time to shower and leave for work. Leaving Pam with the house full of kids.

A womans work is never done!

Aww, what a day! The cake looks delicious though ;-) Its ok, I haven't gotten a b-day present - or cake for that matter - from DH for the last 2 years at least (well, last year I got to bring my brand new baby home on my birthday, he was the best present EVER!) You got me beat! Happy Birthday again!

Just remember that it is the thought that counts. Besides we women know that if we want it all done we have to lend a hand. :) No seriously she knows you love her and I am sure she had a nice birthday because of it.

Girl, you're NO Slacker Cook, at least not in the baking department!

That cake looks absolutely scrumptious!!!

He can make it up to you on the weekend by giving you some Pam time, just to yourself.

BTW, the Followers widget is just plain wrong now. It's all random and ugly.

I believe in dragging my birthday out and celebrating it for a week, thus what couldn't get done because of scheduling issues can be done thoughtful another day!

Every queen deserves atleast a morning cup of ______?(cofee,tea,coke) brought to her one morning. It 's really more fun to be somewhat pampered off & on for a week, than one day anyway! So just keep trying! Your cake looked wonderful!! Happy Birthday Pam!
