ALOHA FRIDAY!!

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

This weeks question:

How do you celebrate your birthday?

my husband usually likes to plot and plan something special... if it was up to me I'd ignore the day all together!

Usually a nice dinner out with my husband.

Come home and celebrate with Dad, since we share the same birthday.

I like to keep it low key, with my husband and friends!

We usually go out to dinner with friends. Birthdays seem to be the only time we can all get together lately. That's what having kids will do.

For my last birthday, hubby took the day off to stay home. We had planned on going to lunch, but I had a migraine. He took care of the kids. That night we went out to a nice dinner and went back to my parent's house for chocolate chip cookie cake.

Well, I'm a teacher and my birthday always seems to fall on the 1st, 2nd, or maybe 3rd day of school...so I'm usually so wrapped up with not only MY first day, but then my kids first days...that my birthday flys by...I'm not much for celebrating my birthdays, I don't know why.

I try to just enjoy the "happy birthday's" and have an uneventful day. I am not a huge fan of big fusses.

Come visit my first Aloha Friday HERE!

I love being woken up at the crack of dawn by my daughter with a steaming cup of coffee! She climbs into bed with us and I open my pressies (I LOVE pressies) - I usually have to go to work, but we go out for dinner in the evening!

Well my kids like to make me cards and give me stuff I collect, like books and little cat figurines, my hubby likes to give me whatever latest electronic there is (I dont ask for anything but to not have to do dishes on my bday!) so to that end, I am usually taken out to dinner! And thats it. And sometimes a friend will call me from out of town, or a relative and that makes it a better than usual day too. Last year we also went to the movies. Gosh that was expensive bday. I think this year I will lay low as I am going to be 42! Eeek!

Well in my imaginary world, I get to sleep until I wake up on my own and not from a toddler or an alarm clock. Then I was brought REAL breakfast in bed (not Cocoa Puffs in skim milk). Then I go to the spa, where I don't have to wait. I'm given a relaxing massage by someone who doesn't look like Java the Hut and then I got a pedicure and manicure at the SAME TIME. Oh, and they don't ask me if I need my upper lip waxed. DOES IT LOOK HAIRY TO YOU?! GOSH!!! ... Then I'm whisked away to somewhere exotic for a dinner that I don't have to eat with plastic silverware.

Then, I wake up.

How I really celebrate? Eh .... dinner out with wine AND dessert. :-) Big spenders!

At my age, there is really nothing to celebrate. But since I have a big milestone birthday coming up in about two weeks (ACK!) I will "celebrate" this one with alcohol. Lots and lots of alcohol. LOL

I usually have dinner with my family. Someone brings a cake and we just stay home.

Usually just a dinner out, and a cake. It really is no big deal.

When I was a kid I always ate pork chops, artichokes, and mac 'n cheese for dinner. :)

Now, I pretty much do the same thing, but I leave off the mac 'n cheese and add in mashed potatoes!

My birthday is usually dinner out then home for bday cake. Always with my family. Wouldn't have it any other way.

I have not celebrated a birthday in a long time. It is all about the kids these days.

The past couple of years I've just had a nice dinner with my best girl friends or my husband. I don't do a whole lot but its special to me. :)

Usually a night out with my husband - even if only dinner - is perfect. If we don't go out, we just stay home and celebrate with the kids. Usually ice cream cake is involved!

Usually we go out to eat as a family and come home and there is cake that Big Brother and Hubby picked out for me. Although, I am going to be 30 in a little less than two weeks and Hubby tells me that Big Brother has some really big surprise plans in store for me. So, we will see. :)

Well, normally I wouldn't have a 2 week old baby but this year I will so who knows! Usually a concert and fabulous dinner, or a weekend away.

Nothing too special ~ except for the 50th - hubby planned a big surprise party, which included flying my sister here from Colorado and having our daughter, who was in college at VaTech, pick her up at the airport and drive her home to the party ~ it was fabulous!!

When I was little my mom would make my favorite dinner which was lasagna. This was even more special since I was born @ the end of July & we didn't have ac while I was growing up! Then we'd have cake & ice cream & I'd open presents.

Now that I'm married w/ two kids it's typically dinner out & then home for whatever dessert I've made. I wouldn't change a thing!

I really don't like to call attention to it so just to have a meal out at my favorite place would be enough for me: Olive Garden!

Sarah said...

Not, really. My girls will make me cards and things but I'm not a gift person so my husband is lucky :) We'll usually just go out to eat.

I'm lucky to be able to share my birthday with my niece, so the family usually gets together and I have fun watching her enjoy 'our' birthday. :-)

wow... We used to celebrate my birthday, back in the day... Since my birthday is 11/8, my hubby's is 11/17, and our anniversary is 11/18... we started consolidating all 3 to 1 night out, and usually 1 big gift we both can enjoy.. But all that gas changed. Our girls' birthday is 11/6 so I'm sure it's enough they have to share with each other, I'm sure they don't want to share with mommy and daddy... lol.. I'm sure ours won't be relevant any longer,,, lol

Yaya said...

I try to avoid it! Lol!

We usually just do something simple for our birthdays, like go out to eat.

If I can, at DISNEYLAND!

Happy VGNO! Enjoy your weekend.

Well, now that I'm in my (ahem) 40s, I get to pick where I want to eat out for dinner. That is pretty much it -- but hubby gets me whatever book or gadget I've been pining for! And sometimes, if I am really really good, my sisters-in-law come down to watch the kid and we can go out together WITH NO KID! A movie, dinner and browsing in a book store -- my idea of heaven!

Kailani said...

As I've gotten older, I prefer not to make a big deal out of my birthday. All I want is for someone else to cook for a change. :-)

Martha said...

Stopping by from VGNO. This year I spent my birthday (last Sun) at Magic Kingdom with my daughter. There is no one thing that I do every year...except grow one year older
