ALOHA FRIDAY!

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

***************************

Yesterday President Obama visited our country. It is being called the Lay-over of the century. He made an 'unexpected' stop at a bakery and he bought some maple leaf cookies to take home with him. How cool is that!!

My question today:

If you were the clerk behind the counter, what would you say or do if you were serving the President of the United States?

I am afraid I would be speechless, and probably just smile, or even worse try to make some corny joke or comment!!

What a great question, Pam! I think I would have asked, "Can I call you Barak?" LOL!

I definitely would have some corny joke and put an "eh?" on the end of it, out of nervousness and to be Canadian!

Enjoy your cookie, eh! ;)

So, they don't sell maple syrup in the states, eh?

Taking a little souvenier of health care back with you?

I would probably just giggle like a teenager and feel awed by a famous person's presence in the midst. Then after he left I would have kicked myself a hundred times and thought I things I should have said or asked.

Jen said...

I would probably ask him if I could take a picture with him so I could put it on my blog. :)

I'd mumble and basically make a fool of myself. Just an ordinary day for me.

I probably wouldn't know what to say. I would, however, want to say "Do you know you are the president of the United States?"

Vicki said...

I don't really know. I never know what I'm going to do or say until I'm in the moment.

I definatly would have pulled out my ever-handy camera and asked for a picture!

Alicia said...

More than likely I would probably try to make him laugh or be very intimidated!

Cat@3KidsandUs said...

I probably wouldn't say anything and just treat him like a regular customer. I don't get gushy over celebrities.

East Coast Wahine said...

I would definitely get a photo with him to put in my blog and websites and all the other online forums I visit! I would also tell him to enjoy the cookie!

Janet said...

Hahaha! I would probably stand there with a mouth full of teeth and nothiing so say!

lets see... i think i'd say... gee, it's nice to have a president who can not only speak in complete sentences but put them together in a way that makes sense.

it's so nice to be proud of being an american again.

I would love a picture but I wouldn't have had my camera handy.

My reaction would be pretty much the same as yours. I would likely stumble all over my words and look quite ridiculous.

Jenn(ifer) said...

In reality, I'd probably forget how to speak...

but the inner me would SO want to say, "So, Mr. President...ever feel like running butt naked through the White House screaming "I WON! I WON!"? Do ya, do ya?"

Lori said...

I wouldn't know what to say other than the same thing I say to every customer and then feel like a fool for not saying something important!

Mighty M said...

I was going to say what Lori said! She beat me to it!! :-)

Emily said...

I honestly wouldn't know what to say... I would probably just stand there smiling looking all goofy!

Diane said...

i'd tell him "we're counting on you" with a very serious "mom" look on my face, hopefully to get his attention!

Kate said...

I would definitely be very nervous and try to greet him and ask how his day way going and tell him we need him to work hard for our country.

Jamie said...

I have no idea....I'd probably be pretty tongue tied. Have a great weekend!

Courtney said...

"it's so very nice to Mr. President. Please know I am praying for you and your family. Enjoy!" and then I would hand him the cookie and tweet about it immediately.

Courtney said...

oops - missed the words "meet you" it's so very nice to MEET YOU Mr. President.

p.s. excuse me as my head and chest feel like bowling balls :)

Nancy said...

I would have stammered and stuttured and then asked if he would take a picture with me!!!

I would be speechless for sure...i get tongue tied when speaking to my family...

ASHLEY said...

I have no idea, knowng me I wouldn't say anything!!

TheAngelForever said...

No clue what I would say. Most likely they knew that President Obama was coming. The Secret Service never allows a president to stop spur of the moment. They always scope places out. I know this because Bill Clinton came to our town once and they had to check out the hospital and many other locations that he was traveling to.

sandy said...

I would probaly just stare! I'm a dork that way;0)

Kailani said...

I think I would be speechless!

Faith said...

I don't know what I would say .. I'd probably ask for an autograph though!

Yaya said...

Yeah, what I'd want to say and what I'd actually say are 2 different things! I'd want to say I think he's doing a great job so far but I'd probably just clam up and be frozen like a statue!

lagirl said...

"That'll be $2.32." *hee hee
I'd probably stutter, stammer, then pee my pants. I'm Sooooo Cool!

Thanks for letting me know the SLACKER CAKE was good made with peach pie filling. I'm thinking of experimenting with Chocolate Cake Mix & Cherry Pie Filling. That sounds good to me too.

Great question! I'm not sure I would even remember the details - but I know I would be relieved once everyone followed him back out of the store.

hippo chick said...

What I'd like to say is "Mr. President, I pray for you each day." What I'd probably say is "DUHHHHHH!"

~hippo hugs~

Jenna said...

Uh.. I'm sure I'd be awkward and say something dumb

shopannies said...

I would hopefully remember to shake his hand and either ask for an autograph or picture

Angela said...

I'd probably pass out and wet my pants and tell him "No sir that'll be on me". I couldn't imagine taking money from him.

SimplyHappyMe said...

I'd shake his hand, ask for an autograph & pic..and ask if he wants anything else to go with his maple leaf cookies! :P

Jenni Jiggety said...

I would be too nervous to come up with anything clever! I would probably smile and mumble unintelligibly.

MarciaBrady said...

I'm sure I would say something stupid...but, I would just try to smile and wish him well. And, of course, offer my idea of what my fave cookie or whatever would be! Oh...and, can I come visit you at the White House?!?! haha

Tena said...

I would say thank you and let him know he was in my prayers for the next 4 years!!

jamaise said...

I would probably say : "No charge" & send some special things in for the girls!
