Work of Art

We have successfully gotten back in the swing of things, and back to routine.

I am a firm believer in that children need routine.

Jillian got back to speech therapy. Jillian has struggled to find her words, but in the month since getting her ear tubes we have seen great strides. I know she has a long road ahead of her, but at least she is heading in the right direction. Our speech therapist has said probably a couple of years will be needed.

Every day when we drop Matthew off at school, we wish him a good day. Yesterday, as I drove away I heard the little voice in the backseat say 'have a good day'!!! The words were not clear, but her tone was a mimic of mine. She is hearing and that is the first step in finding those words.

Matthew came home with a 'Good News' award yesterday. We are proud of him, he is always a good boy at school. (knock on wood)

Emily got back to all her after school activities, but one, which will re-start next week. Last night was sewing class, earlier in the week I told her to pick the fabric she needed for her upcoming projects, since the store is having a 50% off sale right now. Forgetting I told her this, I had asked my husband to pick her up on the way home from work. Boy, he was impressed when he had to go into the store and shell out $50.

These photos are of Jillian going and coming home from speech therapy. Today, she did this beautiful work of art. Her first done away from home!! The object of the exercise was not to create art, but to get her to ask for more shapes to glue on her page. (Sort of worked) But, was she proud of her creation. Usually when we leave, a melt down ensues. Not today though, I told her to hold onto her picture and carry it to the car. She not only carried it to the car, but held it the whole way home. We put it on the fridge for her to show her sis, Em and bro, Datty.

Your little one is so cute, I've got a four year old and she's always so proud to show me the things she makes at school - sounds like Jillian is the same way. Congrats to Matthew on the award, its great to get recognized by your teachers. I love that your daughter Emily is in a sewing class, what sorts of things has she made? Take care - Leene

Jillian is just precious Pam. And how encouraging to hear how she is working on her speach. My Hannah is mimicking my sounds when I talk to her. You are going to see great progress with her and I am so glad the tubes are working. Yay Jillian!!! Wow, $50 after 50% off? What did she buy, cashmere?:) Just kidding. Your kids sound like they are all doing great. Take care my friend.

Love, Laurie

Jillian looks so proud of her picture, she is very adorable.

Hopefully you have a better experience with your second blog:)

Great news on her speech theraphy progress! And awesome that you are back in routine - I love routines and would be lost without them!

It wasn't that i cared about paying for the fabric, a little notice would have been nice.
