My Poor Little Jillers

This morning we were getting ready to head into the Big City. Matthew needed a birthday present for tomorrow, (thus my Aloha Friday question) and I had a $20 coupon for La Senza Girl that expires today. Now, I am cheap, I am a coupon shopper and I never buy anything unless it is on sale. So, $20 off a $40 purchase is something I like to take advantage of.

As we were getting ready to go I said what is that smell?

WHAT IS JILLIAN IN TO?

The smell was a peppermint muscle ointment. It was sitting on a Knick Knack shelf and somehow it rolled/or fell off. She had the lid off of it, and it had spilled down the front of her new Valentine's shirt.

Now this stuff is all natural, but boy is it strong. The smell alone can make your eyes water, and it tingles on your skin.

She was crying and we were concerned that she had rubbed it into her eyes or ingested it.

As we washed her hands and rinsed her eyes we could see that it had not gotten into her eyes. They were clear and not red. However it was on her cheek and her little face soon had a red blotch where she had broken out from the irritation of it on her fair skin.

Thank God for small miracles, she was being watched over this morning as it could of been so much worse!!

We soon realized most of the tears were over the removal of her new shirt. This little girl loves anything new, be it clothes, socks, shoes, or barrettes. To cheer her up (and probably ease some of my guilt) I gave her the dress I had bought her for Valentine's Day.

She quickly stopped crying and began twirling around in the dress. We put in a new hair elastic (Valentine's of course) and put on her sparkly shoes.

Thank goodness, all was right in the world again!!

* the blotch disappeared within a couple of hours, and of course she got a new baby when we were shopping at Wal Mart. And, we have looked around to make sure another 'accident' can not happen again.

Poor Baby Girl!! I am so glad she's okay and didn't get it in her eyes! Your luck sounds like mine (aka having to give her the V-Day dress early).

I would say poor thing - but she probably thinks it was worth it. A new dress and a new baby - yup would be worth it for me :) Glad she is okay though.

I'm glad all ended well!

It kills me how kids will find just about anything. I can look for something for weeks on end, but they will spot it with ease and the rest is history!

Ouch! Poor girl! That looks like it hurt. A quiet house is definitely always a red flag, isn't it!!?!?

(Just found your blog through 3 Bay B Chicks. Nice to "meet" you!)

Poor thing! Her little face really did look sore! Glad all ended well! We don't get to do coupon shopping here ... it's not big in South Africa at all. Pity ... sounds like a good deal!

Thanks for the comment on my blog!
I hate when the little ones do things that make your heart stop. I am glad she is safe and to make a better outlook on the situation she did get a new dress!

Things do happen. I'm glad she's ok. Poor little cheek - it matches her dress.
A couple weeks ago, I was not feeling well and got up late in the night to take a hot bath. This woke my little one up, who came into the bathroom and managed to rupture his eardrum with a Q-tip while I was soaking. This was at 3 a.m. while I was sick. We took a family trip the the ER that night - me with wet hair. I could go a lifetime without doing that again!
