This past week, two fabulous new friends honoured me with presenting me with my first ever blogging award.

And in perfect timing, it is exactly one month since I began this little old blog. I have had the opportunity to meet some of the nicest, like-minded ladies. I enjoy reading about your daily lives and I hope that you enjoy spending a few minutes each day with me as well.

Honorees are to list 10 honest things about themselves - and make it interesting, even if we have to dig deep! Second, we are to pass the award on to 7 bloggers we feel embody the spirit of the Honest Scrap.

1. I am an extreme introvert personality. I have anxiety when I have to leave my comfort zone. Maybe this is why I enjoy blogging so much, I feel I am making a connection with people, but still have the protection of being on the other side of a computer screen.

2. In part to number one, I will avoid conflict at any cost. As an introvert, a personality trait, is having to consider carefully every sentence that comes out of my mouth. Therefore in a conflict situation my brain can not come up with the appropriate response quick enough and I am left standing there saying nothing, or just flying off the handle.

3. I have worked for the same company for twenty years this year. I say I 'work' , even though in my profile I say I am a SAHM. I am a stay at home mom by circumstance. I have been on disability from my job since August 2007. I am still considered an employee and I am able to use my benefits and my discount card. If I was able to work I would be there, life is expensive you know.

4. I consider this disability a blessing is disguise. It has given me the chance to be here with the kids when they are young. The disability is a complication of birthing our third daughter. I have an injury to my spine, it is a combination of many factors. I have seen a surgeon about having a spinal fusion. I am not a candidate for the operation due to a 'complicated case, with too much of a risk for complication and infection'.

For now, the doctor is not ruling it out in the future, as my condition worsens.

5. When I left work I was finally in the position I had set as a goal for myself to obtain. I was the Front End Manager in a store doing over a million dollars in sales each week. I was the supervisor of 60 cashiers, and 15 front end clerks (aka buggy boys). I was also expected to step in and be relieving store manager a couple of days a week. The job was stressful, you weren't just dealing with customer issues, but the employee issues as well. The customer issues you dealt with the best you could, and then they went home. The employee issues were never ending, they were always at the forefront, affecting a lot of people. I got this position in November of 2005. I had to take a leave from January 2006, until April 2006 due to complications of the pregnancy, and I left for mat. leave in August of 2006, and have yet to return. As you can see my actual time in the position I wanted was quite minimal.

6. In order to work my way up, I had to take a full time position as a night stock clerk. Now, there is a thankless job. I was one of only a few females in a male dominated world. And those boys had no shame in letting me know I was not welcome, and I say boys because they were certainly not men. I worked on that night crew for 18 months, including working through a pregnancy. Let me tell you, if you are ever in a 24 hr store, in the night, the people working there are there for a reason. They are not able to function in a daytime society. I mean no offense to anyone, this is just my opinion based on my experiences!

7. While working the night shift I was there while two break ins occurred. The store was not open from 10pm until 8am. Both thefts happened at the front of the store in the smaller store that sells tobacco, in Ontario it is not legal to sell tobacco in the same building as a pharmacy. This is how they get around it, by having a separate entrance off the lobby to a small store.

8. I met my husband while I was working at a summer co-op. He was a full time employee working in the lab. He just kept coming by my desk, I began to suspect something was up. On one of our first dates my recent ex-boyfriend stopped by, he became so enraged at me having a new flame he backed his car into a brick pillar in our driveway. I just stayed in the house not knowing what to do. My mom went out to talk to him. It was quite the dog and pony show, looking back!!

9. When we were first married I was told that we would have a difficult time conceiving. All three of my children were surprises, with no intervention. There is five years between Emily and Matthew. On Sept 11th I was at the fertility specialist office to start treatment in order to get pregnant. I decided against it as I began the midnight position shortly after that. I can remember being so scared that day, not understanding what was going on in NYC.

10. I have a slight OCD, clutter can pile up around me and I just go with the flow. But I could spend all my time making sure chairs are pushed in properly and towels are hanging straight.

I pass this along to the following:

Congratulations on receiving your first award!
I pray that your condition gets better.
I totally relate to #10. I like my cans lined up properly in my pantry (among other things), but I don't seem to mind the dirty dishes in my sink. :)

Thank you Pam. This is my first official award too. I am with Ashley here and am a complete dork when it comes to getting things from one place to another. sigh. I need help too and in the meantime, I can think up ten WONDERFUL things I can say about myself:) Just kidding. I love awards and I love you too. Let me know how to do this. If I can post pictures, anything is possible right?

I'm just catching up. First of all, thanks for the honest answers. Secondly, parenting is really tough. My girls are grown but I sure remember. We were strict parents. I know some of our girls' friends felt sorry for them, but I didn't answer to them, I answered to God.

And lastly, your sister was a beautiful bride. I love the picture of them in the sleigh.

Have a great week.
