ALOHA FRIDAY!!

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link at Island Life. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

Today’s question is:

WHEN YOU GO TO THE DOCTOR, DO YOU TAKE A LIST OF QUESTIONS WITH YOU?

I find that if I don't take a list I always forget at least one question I wanted to ask. I think I suffer from white coat syndrome!

I don't take a list, but there's been a few times I wished I had one with me.

I do now that I am being thrown down every oath imaginable to figure out what is wrong with me

I always right it down, but I never remember to actually bring the dang thing.

I forget my list too, at least this time I remembered because a lot of it was REALLY important and I hate going back, but they want me to go for a follow up anyway. stink

Ooh, goodness!! I NEVER take a list with me!! And, like you, I get medical amnesia as soon as I sit on that cold table and the white paper crunches underneath my toosh!! Then I have to take a moment and think 'hey, why the heck am I even here!!' Stinking intimidating doctors and their happy one person six-figure incomes!! :-)

Well, actually, I can't say never. When I was pregnant, I took a list of questions with me one time. Then the nurses stared me down like the crazy newcomer that I was .... Intimidating nurses. Jeez!

But, I'm LOVIN' Aloha Friday!! I shall ask a question! :-)

No, I don't take a list. I usually remember what I wanted to ask. But I feel free to call if necessary too.

Hmm.....I take a mental list with me when iut's my kids...otherwise, I forget!

Actually, I should start getting my list for me together now - I've got a dr. visit next week!

I think it is a good idea to take a list but I have never done it.

I never take a list either, but I did when I was pregnant. Somehow my brain went fuzzy and I couldn't remember one day from the next! I seem to get a bit of verbal when I visit my Dr. I jabber away nervously ... he probably thinks I'm a nutter!

blueviolet said...

Now I do that because the steel trap isn't quite as strong as it used to be, lol

BrineS said...

Nope. Not something I have needed to do. Well, not yet. But a good idea.

I write out a list with the wee ones and forget to get it out.

Sometimes I do and other times I don't. I usually find I forget to look at my list... go figure! LOL

I really should start taking one, because I always seem to forget the most important question, and then I have to waste everyone's time by calling back later!

Lori said...

I did a few times when I was pregnant, but never to a regular appointment. I have taken lists to my children's appointments before, but not often

I NEED to take a list but I either forget the list at home or don't make the list cause I think surely I can remember 1 question (to end up with 3-4 that I think of later). Maybe I should just keep a little notebook with me at all times. But, I forget.

ASHLEY said...

NO, I NEVER TAKE A LIST OF QUESTIONS!!!

If I am going for a big appointment with something important I will make a list. I am a list person in general. I tend to do it for the kids big appointments and when I was pregnant.

Debbie said...

I never do. But that is probably because I obsess over things for so long ahead of time, I am not likely to forget anything.

Yes, yes and yes! Especially when I go with my husband (recovering heart bypass patient)! He takes 20 different medications every morning..no joke..and we're always needing to adjust them...he is soooo high maintenance! Anyhoo..he suffers from white coat syndrome too!

Hugs and have a wonderful weekend!

Let me answer this question from the other side of the table as I am a doctor. Most patients don't bring a list but some do and even take down notes.

Storm said...

Yes I do have a list. I have a section in my calendar/organizer for just this reason.

I forget to make a list when I take Little One then hubby will ask if I got an answer on something and I will go red with shame and go look on the net. LOL

Oh and I am having a giveaway you might be interested in for the kiddies. The next giveaway will be for us moms!!

I'll admit, I have taken lists with me...I don't want to make another trip if I forgot something, and for every question the dr usually wants to see the child in question.

jen@odbt said...

I've written down questions for my kids' visits but for mine, no. I should though.

I really need to start to bring a list, Lil Buddy just had an appointment on Wednesday and by the time we got home I realized 3 or 4 things I forgot to ask!!

Sage and Savvy said...

No, I don't bring a list...although I should because every time I leave the doctor I think "Oh--I forgot to ask him..." whatever it is.

Heatherlyn said...

I have yet to make a list. I remember what I need to say. I think I give the doctor too much information but if I were a doctor I'd want as much info as possible to properly diagnose the problem. I wonder how many doctors have the time to actually care if something is really properly diagnosed?

The Blonde Duck said...

I'm actually kind of mean to doctors. I ask them tons of questions and glare and fuss when they give me shots.

No, I try to remember then since I usually don't have a lot of questions. If I forget anything then I call back later.

I take a list every time! If I don't, I'm kicking myself later...

I don't usually, but this time I have a list. I'm going to be away for 2-1/2 months and don't want to leave any stone unturned.

Ah, I was terrible at this until I had my sun. Now I'm sure to have it with me all the time. :)

I acually did bring a list with me the last time I went! AND I wrote things down when she told them to me! It was great!

Kelly said...

I always do for Lyla - bring a list and write as my doctor tells me important things. I only did it for myself when I was pregnant. I am sure you know, as I always call you with my questions before hand.

Lissa said...

Depends on the doctor. My one doctor knows me so well by now (ob/gyn) I have to bring a list to my ortho surgeon though-he is so darn good looking, I just want to stare at him the whole darn time.

Tara said...

I always tell myself I will then.. at the last moment I convince myself I will remember everything.. The doctors always act like they don't have time. grrr

Who doesn't suffer from white coat syndrome? I can barely remember that I booked the appointment in the first place, let alone communicate everything I need to.

Mamarazzi said...

oh yes i am the same way. i started keeping a list in memos on my phone.

I have not recently, but am compiling one now. I think that might be why I have felt like my doctor has only been treating symptoms. I think if I have a list,he will be able to see symptoms together and maybe treat the cause.
